Re: Community Notice [PLEASE READ!]
... This discussion is starting to become kind of ridiculous.

What are we going on about here? Is it the right to question versus the right to not answer them?

Or is it just that people are looking for an excuse to act however the hell they want with no consequences?

Either way, the situation reminds me of a cross between tug of war and a balance. Or perhaps more like tug of war while on a big boat. One side tugs, then the other side tugs, and back and forth we go. It makes me want to grab an accordion.

Are you seasick yet?

What I'm getting at here is this isn't an either or thing. If one side or the other wins the boat (or in this case forum) will just flip over, and then we'll be all wet, and the 'boat' will be empty.

And that isn't a very desirable situation. Not only does the rocking of the boat turn the boat over, but it attracts sharks. To prevent such a capsize a balance of some sort has to be maintained. Some sort of moral boundary which must not be crossed by either opposing party.

I'm really surprised this discussion has went on for so long and become such a problem when such a boundary is already, if vaguely, in the rules.

Oranges, apples, whatever your fancy,

Re: Community Notice [PLEASE READ!]
i love the boat analogy, tzolkin. the reason why this announcement was made is that the admins noticed the sea sickness and tried to make everyone aware of the problem in order to find a solution together. some people have made really good statements, while others either didn't see or didn't want to see what this was all about, and fervently defended their point. so what's going on in this topic is exactly what we wanted to make people aware of. <!-- s:roll: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="" title="Rolling Eyes" /><!-- s:roll: -->

On that note though, I believe this discussion has been done to death, and I see the poll atop having a majority saying "no" even if we combined the options of "yes" and "I don't care" against it.

This has gone on more than long enough. I think the matter is decided. In the immortal words from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, "Be excellent to eachother."

If you've got sensitivity issues... deal with it in a mature fashion and say you don't feel comfortable answering that, for the inquisitive members, lighten up if someone is just rolling around under pressure. To all, don't make the claims if you can't or don't want to back it up.

This topic is locked.
