i don't like this at all....basically because i yet again see reference to OKA when this should be completly separate from them.

I also think it's possible that it would become something to fight over.

"Why does this person get truest post reward? People argued with their X more than my Y!!!"

How is this idea referencing the OKA?

And why is any comparison to the OKA an idea killer?

Plus, as far as I recall, the OKA never placed award icons in our sigs.

Re: The OP Icon Awards!
Just my quick opinion on it. I don't think that adding to the "entertainment" value of a forum is particularly worthwhile or adds to the overall purpose of an academic forum (a forum based on the pursuit of a particular branch of spirituality in this case).

Most of the ideas put forth aren't about entertainment. They're rewards for intelligent thought, which is what this forum should support.

I think its a valid question on my part, especially since the comparison isn't fair. Rant and rave if it makes your point because I was on the OKA for awhile and I never saw member awards. There was once a pseudo award post, but that never came to fruition. This is my idea, not anyone elses, not any other board's idea. And I am sincere when I ask why the comparison is getting your panties in a bunch.

Exactly... that's why I did it in the first place. If I saw something that was particularly awesome, I said something about it. Nobody argued over it before... of course, I only got to do it for about four months before things went all crashy-burny, so maybe nobody had the chance to wibble about it. It was all in good fun, though.

I don't think it was an OKA thing, either... it wasn't an "official" honour by any stretch. Mostly just a "me" thing. Because I'm weird and say stuff like "truest post ever" and "qft" a lot.

But, anyway.
