Perhaps it appears that it is not enforced because it has not been broken yet, not an unwillingness to enforce it, but rather an inability to say that "Yes this rule has been broken". That's what it seems like to me at least.
I wasn't even talking about what's been going on at the point you're referring to. I was talking about the mod responses that they are unable to enforce the rule, because they have no good measure of when the rule has been broken, rather than just bent, as it's all personal opinion and sensitivity-based anyway.

Point is, if you can't even tell if someone breaks the rule, to enforce it, what good is the rule?

Xanthus Wrote:I am really not trying to act like a mod or admin. I"m not charging around telling people to cease and desist or else. I'm not throwing around any sort of false authority or acting like I own the place. I'm just complaining about breaches of the rules we all agreed to, both to the community and to the management.

You may not be trying to, but it sure seems like it from where I'm sitting and it's really starting to get irritating. I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm just pointing out how it looks from a moderator's perspective.

Xanthus Wrote:I also, never suggested changing the rules, nor did I rewrite a rule. I think if you check the rules thread, you will find it is still very much intact and untouched.

Yes, you did. You re-wrote rule #1 as an example (your exact wording is 8 posts up from this, Tue Mar 04, 2008 4:29 pm.) Obviously you didn't actually change the rule on the website, you did it here, in this thread to try and prove your point. And in my opinion, you're not paying attention to your own advice in following the rules as you've now started to break rule #3, arguing with a moderator. So my point to you, Xanthus, is this: just let it go and stop arguing! Please!

If you could give me a specific example of where you think I'm "trying to act like a moderator" that would be great. Maybe it will help me avoid that in the future.

Other than that: I am not happy with things at current, here. I feel as if I am being talked down to, steamrolled and ignored by the moderators. Not because of any logic, or because of any forum rule, but simply because of their personal views and opinions and the fact that they, apparently, do not align with my own.

I thought we were discussing this. I was trying to be civil about it and rely on logic and reasoning, rather than just opinion. If this is to be seen as "arguing" then, I can stop. But if I have to stop, then please tell me, outside of just leaving the forum, what recourse do I have, as I actually can't just "ignore" the moderator staff?

Re: Community Notice [PLEASE READ!]
I just wanted to say that maybe 'kitten' isn't fitting at all. More like 'Lion'.

Its not about refusing to answer a question that may or may not make them unconfortable, its more about having that question be answered then the details of that answer questioned, and the answer to those questions questioned. While in and of itself, this is not a bad thing at all. But when the questions another party are asking are for moot benefit (or when they are asked simply to clarify how their beliefs would indentify with another's), there is a need to defend one's ideals, opinions, theories, or faith. There should be emotion in what you believe, in my opinion. Lions roar back and do it as nicely as possible as if they expect the 'interigators' to understand. Maybe it is not the role of the 'kittens' to ignore that which 'annoys' them, but the role of the 'interigator' to take a hint when resistance is observed.

Re: Community Notice [PLEASE READ!]
I'm going to somewhat agree with Taiaka, here, since what she said goes along with what I was going to say, in a way.

I think this is nothing more than a breakdown in communication.

The 'kittens' need to work on nicely telling the 'interrogators' when they're no longer comfortable with the questioning, and why.

The 'interrogators' should know (and they probably do, I hope) when to yield in the line of questioning is getting uncomfortable to the one being questioned.

I do understand that a lot of times tough questions can bring about positive change. However, sometimes certain more belief-shattering lines of questioning can take a while to process, and ample time for this should be available.

I think that would help with any disputes. Less for the mods to deal with if the members can resolve their disagreements among themselves politely.

I think knowledge is it's own benefit, that no question is moot simply because the value of that knowledge is not clear.
... maybe interrogators should be renamed "researchers" if the "kittens" are "lions" <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

"I don't care either way."

Largely because I'm an ass, and there are others here who are also asses.

I know for a fact that at least a few people are not appreciative of my being blunt with questions and/or answers, but the truth of it is that I tell it like it is (or rather, like I see it).

So, having taken this into consideration, if you don't like what I've got to say - rather than whining about it to the mods/admins - just don't look at it.
Simple problem, simple solution.

It's all wel and good to stay out of threads that are started by people you don't like, but what's to keep people you don't like out of threads you start?

Or are all the 'non-assholes' just supposed to flee back and forth across the forum whenever one of the assholes rears their ugly head?

Wherever the post is, you can always choose to ignore it. There's also an "Ignore" function on this site... the "enemies" list..

Personally, I wouldn't ignore people really, seeing as the only way one can make one's "OWN" mind up is by listening to other people's opinions and thoughts, otherwize one never really learns anything nor comes to any understanding that which one has made up for oneself.
