jIRC is $49.95 and is a full-fledged IRC client. Runs in java.

$50 is considerably more than $5. Is there anything else for a comparable price that just doesn't suck?

you're right, xanthus, that's something i wouldn't like. i may be a fan of free software, but only if it's distributed as such. many people forget that programming is hard work, and not every programmer does it as a hobby.

Our of interest, how many people here who use IRC actually paid for it? <!-- sWink --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- sWink -->

Yay, someone else who understands IRC - lol. Going on IRC with legal software is like... going to a prison gang meeting and expressing your distaste for murder.

Besides, I never said anything about web servers, just IRC <!-- sBig Grin --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- sBig Grin -->.

I customized a copy of phpMyChat back in the day. But man, getting that thing to not suck in Firefox is a real pain and a ton more work than it should be.

Trillian Basic is free to begin with, so we didn't need to pay.

Re: So, I'm making the website!
In case no one noticed, I believe I've resolved the majority of the issues with Firefox and my CSS now.

However, one lingering issue is the bullets in Firefox are showing up as diamonds, rather than filled circles like they're supposed to. Does anyone know how to get that bullet style in Firefox, because standards-compliant CSS isn't doing it...

Neither do I. It was a test color scheme that I put up. I don't like it.

As I mentioned before, though, I'm going to be working on the layout and functionality first, then re-skinning it to new colors/images.

Can the rest of us view your work-in-progress webpage Xan? I'd love to see how it looks so I can give input.
