Fictionkin Doubles
Hi!

This is on both TG and OKP, so some of you may see this on TG as well.

Doubles are often discussed in fictionkin communities, and I think the way people treat the topic can be kind of unhealthy, in a way. I think a complete, straight, ‘doubles DNI’ can be maybe not the right way to go- though, this is based off of my and my friend’s experience, so I could very well be wrong!

I think that people dislike doubles because they think the person is trying to be them, but people don’t see much past that. I think it’s more healthy to acknowledge that doubles are NOT you- just because you share a kintype does not mean they’re some imposter. We are not just our kintypes, and even then, all interpretations of characters are different and therefore the kintypes are not all quite the same.

I also used to worry that my friends would like my doubles more, or that they were better versions of me. This is not the case, obviously, and it helped me to realize that. Now I see doubles more as someone who gets me and feel a sort of solidarity with them. It took time to get to this point, though.

Just my take. I could very well be wrong. If there are other reasons people are uncomfortable with doubles that are not rooted in perhaps unhealthy ideals, please do tell me!

Thanks!

RE: Fictionkin Doubles
What does "double" refer to in this context?
