Re: Adult Forum
I am with Kahoku on this, I don't feel it is necessary.

As Archer said, the forums that have an adult section don't have anything that isn't suitable for those that are permitted on this forum, and even if they did, I would not wish there to be such content posted.

There is no reason anything has to be covered with glitter or some such to be acceptable, as a matter of fact the glitter should be wiped off and the topic presented in professional and mature manner.

Re: Adult Forum
Yah, stick to professional/medical terms if necessary, don't be vulgar, don't be explicit and even most 'adult' topics can be kept to a "PG-13" standard.

I mean, unless you're talking about in-depth exploration of sex-magic and techniques thereof, I think you're pretty safe.

Even so there are topics where medical terminology could be used and not be so PG-13. I think that an adult section could not hurt at all.

The point is, you CAN discuss it. So long as you're not discussing specific angles and and positions and whatnot...paint your pictures in broad strokes and it should be fine.

Take about the energy work and emtional levels and just sort of paint the physical end of it in broad generalities. Like I can easily keep "Then you have sex" within PG-13. Just don't get into the minutia and it won't go R-Rated, I think. (Or even X)

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear - I was saying something very different.

The forums I know of that have had an adult section did indeed have lively and useful R rated discussions (not just on sexual topics either - there is a lot more than sex which is not considered suitable for 13 year olds, at least on this side of the Atlantic).

However, a main cause for concern from forum owners tends to be "no way, it will degenerate into porn!" I have never seen that happen. I have never seen the adult section of an otherwise sensible kin forum cross the line - certainly talk about subjects that would not be appropriate around children, but definitely remain appropriate for an adult forum.

The other main cause for concern seems to be causing some kind of split. In my experience adult sections have low traffic - and if people are posting things there which are not adult in nature, it's very simple for admin staff to point this out and move them to a public section. As it stands, there isn't a "split" as such, but every adult on the forum who wants to talk about an adult issue is constantly minded that everything they post must be suitable for a 13 year old child to read.

The last issue often raised against an adult section is the difficulty of policing it. The simplest way is a tickbox confirming you are over 18. Yes, people will lie - but that fulfills whatever tiny legal duty of care you have. To be more complicated, you could only allow people to join it who can, say, email confirmation from their work or university email address (as not many minors will have such a thing, but most adults will).

Some of sex magic is in the minutae.

There are a number of topics I have in the past discussed - relating to sexuality and being otherkin (specifically my kind of multiple), relating to non-sexual but definitely very adult situations I have been in (both in this life and another), relating to how the use of illegal drugs (or in some jurisdictions, legal but restricted) has either helped or harmed my self-awareness. I am sure other people here have similar experiences.

Say "but keep it PG-13" and you take away the opportunity for those people to discuss it on the forum.

There's a limited amount of interest - but there's a limited amount of interest in walk-ins and multiples too.

I guess I see some positives to having such a board but that the negatives are essentially non-existent.

Re: Adult Forum
What Archer said....

and on the subject of sex-magic...
It's a broad topic, to keep it all pg-13 means you can't talk about significant parts of that...

And is the use of blood and/or pain for magic purposes a pg-13 topic?

I mean yes, you can keep the whole forum pg-13 if you want to, you're the boss. But you have to admit that there's a lot of stuff people might want to talk about that which aren't "filthy" but still aren't pg-13.
