It may not be necessary at all.
If a person specifies their location (even in a only human-readable format to avoid search engine queries) and you're nearby, just PM them and arrange an informal meeting in a neutral location. I've met many kin IRL using this method, though it's hardly foolproof and some people out there are douchebags - hence neutral locations as a bare minimum <!-- s

If someone wants to have a general semi-public gathering, start an appropriate thread. That's typically how we handle things on the MySpace Otherkin forum and it seems to work well for us.
