Is there some way to create a private mailing list (these used to be all the rage back in the days when Pluto waas a planet) and just pop announcements out on it? Would be a bugger getting all the email addresses manually, but I'm not sure what the database is like.
there should be a way to send a mass e-mail through the acp... i just can't find it. of course i could just use all the registered addresses, but it would be a pain to convert them into a mailing list.

alternatively we could just
- make a mailing list people can sign up for
- not do anything. if the forums are down, chances are good i'm working on it...

We'd go for either the former of those options, or posting a notice on the main site. It's good to know for certain what's going on, and that an admin is already on it.

i added a "news" feature to the main page (main.otherkinphenomena.org).
forums are back up. in that progress, i had to reset the styles, so if you were using the special okp style, you'll have to select it again in your user control panel.

also, i will be updating the phpbb version soon, so the forums will be down again later this week. it will be announced via our mailing list.
