I posted this in another Otherkin Guild here on Gaia. I would like to share it with you.

First off I'd like to say that the list of things I am about to present isnt limited to otherkin. Feel free to substitue 'otherkin' for any group of people that have been considered victims of intolerance by the majority.

1. Otherkin who think that anyone who doesn't believe in otherkin is immediately out to get us. Come on, do you really expect everyone you meet to believe you? I'm sure there was one point in your life where if someone came up to you and said, "I am a dragon rawr!" you would have laughed in their face. Or checked them into a mental hospital.

2. Otherkin who claim to be an angel/demon/dragon/elf/kitty/toaster. Same goes for those people who I like to call "Generic Kin". You know the type, they dont know what kind of kin they are but they are very sure of the existence of horns/fangs/wings/pointy ears/scales/tails/antlers on their body.

3. Otherkin who hate humans for no reason. Same goes for Otherkin who do nothing but bitch about humans and earth and how much better their 'home' was. Well if you like it so much back home then go back. If it's such a great place why are you stuck here? Eh? Home planet get destroyed in some epic war? You can't go back because you were exiled? Then shut up about how much Earth sucks unless you are actually making it better. Bitching never makes anything better. Except in the case of this post and that is only because this is a post intended to concentrate all this shit so that the rest of the world doesnt have to put up with it.

4. Otherkin to claim to have been someone famous in their past lives. Especially more than one famous person. Even more so when they lived at the same time. If you're going to make up a past life story, get your history straight.

5. Otherkin who won't date humans because 'they just dont understand being otherkin". No, it isn't that they don't understand. They just don't care. Really. Just like anyone willing to date you doesn't care what colour your skin is, or how much money you have.

6. Otherkin who use their otherkinness as an excuse to feel sorry for themselves. Or anyone who uses anything as an excuse to feel sorry for themselves. Feeling suicidal because nobody believes that you have the soul of a lemur? Good, because being a lemur is something shameful and you deserve to die a horrible, self-inflicted death.

End Scene.

Well, that's, of course, assuming that time is linear and that reincarnation follows the normal timeline. Personally I'm not really convinced of this. I don't even think I'd be more skeptical than normal if I met someone who claimed to be a reincarnation of me after I die. I just am not sure reincarnation is constrained to the normal timeline like that.

Also, if normal people reincarnate, why not famous people? Or does being popular negate your chances for reincarnation?

I think it's good to be skeptical of 'kin who make ANY overly-specific claims, like specific historical/famous past-lives, specific and detailed past-life memories and whatnot. Just because, if they intend to put out a higher level of detail in their beliefs they should thereby also expect a higher level of scrutiny.

I'm sure lemur-kin would heavily disagree.
I think that was sarcasm, momo.
*scratches head* not that i'm against free expression, but why is this in humor?

I think Highway_Girl meant it more like sarcastic humor. But I'm just guessing. Perhaps because no one is supposed to take offense to the list?
I’m also not sure if this fits in our Humor section. Might work better in General since some can conceive this to be typical issues that kin either feel or take offense to others feeling. Already proves to make for a debate.

Think about it, Highway

In the meantime, I got a number 7 for you:

7. Otherkin who won’t shut up about how when the veil falls they will take on their ultra powerful true forms and with it track down all the bullies who were mean to them back in high school and show them what’s what.
#8. References to the veil falling. I just find it to be a really silly concept. Like somehow there's this magical 'veil' that's forcing you into human form and if it'd just go away you'd suddenly become an uber-powerful fairy pincess again and you and your fairy-elven army of 1337 warrior-mage-swordsingers would prace all about and take over the world...

Yeah, thinking that's not gonna happen any time soon.
I put it in Humour so people wouldn't take it entirely seriously. It is meant to be fairly sarcastic, and it may be better suited in General but it isn't really meant to spark debate, more to spark humour, and more peeves. <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

alright, just wanted to hear the rational.
