Okay. I visited a site (do not want to pick on it, it was just some people) and they said that since I am 12, that I am to young to awaken. I know that that it not true, and that they are just being stuck up and rude, but it made me wonder if there is like an age you have to be to... awaken. Obviously, you have to be able to think for yourself, but for me, at a very young age, I knew that my body was human, but my... mind... was not. I dont know if this was because I just was fascinated with nature and the world and such, or if it was really because I was a therian.

Also, there is a little girl across the street, and her name is Gioia, and she seems to be the only one that can *see* my phantom limbs. I dont know if this is because she is open minded, or because she- once she awakens- will become, say, a therian, or some sort of otherkin. I am not sure. She if 5, and so able to think for herself, but not really able to... understand.

I was just wondering these things, and I hope you can help.
Gioia can *see* phantom limbs? Really? Can you ask if she saw mine? *giggles* anyways, i saw a site once that said that some little kids can see phantom limbs. And some can even tell you about your past lives (obviously i haven't met them >.<). I found it very amazing. I don't know why they can see them. It may be because all of them are open minded. But I don't know for sure.

There is no set age to awaken. It is most common for people to awaken around puberty, but it is by no means a rule. There are people like me who never really awakened...who were born "aware," people who awaken in their 50s, and a whole ton of people who awaken in their teenage years...probably because of hormones

Might never know for sure on that one.

I notice children in general can "see things" that older people cannot. You'll find that, in general, the younger someone is the more likely they are to perceive spirits, auras, phantom limbs, etc. So I would say it is a function of her age and innate ability to perceive energy and not that she is some sort of otherkin.
Sera's commented what I have to say, all but one little point..

Regardless of what she can or can not see, I'd suggest you don't comment on it.
Okeyday!
I never really used the term "awakening" when referring to myself as meaning that I'd found out what I was. I've always known I wasn't entirely human.

Rather, I use the term "awakening" to describe when I discovered a term for it/when I realized I was different.
I think the reason so many younger people are told they may be "too young" for awakening is because it's happening right when puberty starts, and a lot of therians have looked back on those years and said, "Yeah, I wasn't a therian, but it was awesome while it lasted." You feel like you're so different from everyone else, and everyone is trying to find out how they are special and unique compared to each other, and therianthropy is a great outlet for that creative energy. Also, it's *so* easy to fool yourself into thinking you are a therian/otherkin that going through puberty is definitely a red flag to some people who think it's more likely just a phase.

I'm not saying you are or aren't, and I'm not one to pass that kind of judgment, but it could be a reason you've faced that kind of response.
When I was seven I nearly awoke. I was sitting in church one Sunday morning and nearly saw a fiery aura envelop my hands. I freaked out and told myself it was impossible. From that day on I stopped "seeing" things. Even now my spiritual sight is still non-existent. There have been plenty of people who have basically said "Poof, I fixed your sight!" but nothing has ever occured. I am recently of the opinion that seeing as I bound my own sight, it is up to me to find a way to restore it.
Unfortunately, there are many people around that young teen age category who have spoiled the reputation by waltzing into forums and making sheer fools of themselves. Thus there are some who are not so inclined to believe anything said by someone at a young age.

I personally do take the statements of younger individuals under a little bit more a careful eye than some others. To cast them all out, however, because of a few individuals who either didn't understand what they were going through or just plain let their imagination get the better of them is a bit much.

Since no one seems to have a set and identical definition or complete understanding for awakening or the nature of the soul in general, far be it from me to say who can and cannot "awaken" at what point in their lives. Although I still caution you to evaluate and analyze deeply as the younger we are, the less experience we have to tell ourselves when we are imagining and when we are experiencing.
I was just wondering (and yes vivian i am using your post ^^) if knowing you are otherkin is an awakening or if knowing what type of otherkin your are is an awakening. Really this is because I know i am otherkin (i feel phantom limbs and can feel/see aruas) but dont know what type... Am I awakened or just very confused and close to awakening?
