For me to buy, not download - so it better be good stuff!

I wanna listen to something in the Texas campsite of my imagination. Maybe a bit Southern rock-ish.
There's a song called "Tall, Tall Trees", if you can find the artist, they're decent country. (I forgot the name of the band).

We...uh...tend toward Gothic country, when we listen to country. >.> That or Johnny Cash, and I would hope you're familiar with Johnny Cash.

Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Munly, Tarantella, stuff like that. Look them up on last.fm and you can get a taste before you buy.

I really can't stand most country music, but sometimes I make an exception for Cowboy Mouth. (They keep the annoying twang to a minimum and are more rockish, but still with plenty of Texas flavor.)

I'm not sure what you're tastes are though. My second choice would be old school country. Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, and yes, Johnny Cash. (Out of those, Cash is probably my favorite too.)

Edit: Gothic Country???? The mind warps....
I am of course familiar with Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, and Johnny Cash. Do you all take me for a complete pleb?

I'm not sure I like the idea of Gothic anything . . . but will YouTube all other suggestions in the morning. Ta!

Nur hur hurr yessssss...and death country, which I just discovered tonight after going for another fix!

Johnny Cash is considered death country, actually.

Yeah, I guess I can see that with the whole Ghost Riders and Wheel of Fire thing. I just didn't think they made them like that anymore.

Really? I had no idea that there was such a thing as death country or goth country. And I can't decide if that should be scary or not.

Since I normally can't stand country, I can't really help you Archer. I can suggest a few individual songs that don't make me want to claw my ears to shreds though: I'm in a Hurry by Alabama, Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash (he's hot!), Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy by Big n' Rich, Pour Me by Trick Pony and singers like Shania Twain and Faith Hill aren't bad either.
There's still more where this came from:

If you're in the mood for a duet style, Lady Antebellum by Lady Antebellum has quite a few great county rock songs mixed in
though there are a few slow country lovely-dovey and/or sad tracks also

Kerosene - by Miranda Lambert or Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - Miranda Lambert
i get the feeling you might really like her

Time Well Wasted - Audio CD (Aug 16, 2005) by Brad Paisley
this is his slowest cd but it does have some fun tacks also

5th Gear - Audio CD (April 8, 2008) by Brad Paisley
this has a lot more of his rock style songs, along with just some hysterical lyrics. just a few tracks are slow and Jesus happy

Lucky Old Sun ~ Kenny Chesney
i personally haven't listened to this myself but i am familiar with a few tracks which i can recommend. most country fans i know are huge fans of the cd overall

Trace Adkins has way to many awesome songs floating about but a good place to start is this cd:
American Man: Greatest Hits Vol. II - Trace Adkins
Greatest Hits Vol. I is a lot slower then II so i don't recommend it to you nearly as much

Horse of a Different Color - Big & Rich
most of there cd's are great, actually. just stay more towards their original songs as opposed to the covers they do.

that's it for now (i still have 3 more pages of unread topics to get to)
I suggest you don't get country.
