forcing a change and it not working.
Anyone know the feeling when you care for some one but they hate your species of otherkin?
I went through that and it went way south and I feel embarrassed that I tried to change for another.
I been seeing a side of my self I tried to bury and it didn't work a white furred two tailed female kitsune with black fur from the paw like hands to the elbows. Darkness is the bound element and a rather powerful mage in the astral.

Now a dumb set of questions is there a way to force it to go away?
Also what kintype does a kitsune count as?

In Japanese lore the kitsune is a multi tailed shapeshifting trickster its natural form is a fox but each element effects the kitsune darkness are typically quite dangerus and tend to lack mercy.

Re: forcing a change and it not working.
We’ve never had someone distinctly love one of us but hate what e are. I think the closest thing might be Earth Listener’s significant other has never cared for Kardegray being a “demonic beast.” He is Christian and so when he first learned I was multiple demonic possession was he thought and its been a while for him to arm up to the rest of the system but he still only tolerates Kardegray.

Several of us has also personally tried to ignore parts of our kin identity as well. Some time before, Earth Listener spent nearly a year ignoring ze had three theriotypes and one was a blue glaucus sea slug. Plus, Mist Weaver ignored the idea/fact she was a fictionkin for a number of months before accepting it. Things like that.

I wouldn’t know how someone could just force away something of themselves away if it is indeed there, but then again if you see your identity as psychological, I guess someone could work to remove that part of themselves over time. Then again I’m not sure how healthy it would be to force that kind of thing.

When you say what kind of kintype they would count as, I guess their own kind of like how unicorns and gryphons are their own kind. Though I have heard some people calling various kintypes like unicorns, dragons, gryphons, kitsune, and so on “Mythical beast kin” as a way of sectioning off different kinds.

I don't see what kintype has to do with interpersonal relationships (outside of the religious belief conflict thing). If you ask me, someone who rejects you solely because of what sort of otherkin identity you have is ridiculous and you can do much better.

Re: forcing a change and it not working.
He's out of my life now but it was kinda like racism he hated all foxes and fox like beings kitsune included.
I'm happier with him gone but mentally I still feel a need to suppress it. Ralic who has asked me out thinks It's unhealthy to suppress apart of your being and has told me last night he want all of me the good and the bad no matter my kintype and that comforted me. It's spiritual with me so suppressing it has caused heavy depression and self destructive tendencies such as putting out cigarettes on my arms and the like I never did that until I started suppressing that part of me.

It won't be easy because of the mental beat down I got from my ex but I may have to re-accept that part of my self...

It is unhealthy to suppress part of yourself. Still, it's pretty unhealthy to be racist against foxes too. How does that even come about?

Re: forcing a change and it not working.
I think he had some major psychological issues and had several ex mates who were fox furries and I think something in him broke mentally. All I know for sure is he sure did a fine job of tearing me down. He was a dragon or so he claimed but he felt that no matter what happoned the blame lain with some one else... hell the man once blamed me when he lost his job at a sub shop in denver co yet he was actually stealing sandwhiches from the damn shop.

does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to help keep myself from suppressing well myself?

Re: forcing a change and it not working.
In terms of not consciously suppressing yourself, the best thing is just to shoot down the doubt. I don't have to tell you that doubt can be important, but there's no reason to let it hurt you. If you're confident in yourself, people who tell you otherwise are jerks. Now, unintentionally suppressing yourself is of course harder to avoid. But as I've said before, it can help to remind yourself not to do so.

Re: forcing a change and it not working.
There are several tales of kitsune who were "benevolent" and/or at the very least amoral/indifferent to human plights; However you also have to keep in consideration that what has been passed down in human lore is but one facet, a few isolated instances of what a few humans perceived (or fabricated) to be their experiences. Hell, us Draco/Dragons are a mixed bag with no shortage or jerks and arrogant elitists but neither an individual or their race is confined by the actions of certain groups. So no more self-hate, kay'? You only get to hate yourself if you become an incorrigible prick! Tongue

p.s. If some people still don't like ya despite your efforts to be a good person (like any other sane, centered individual) then *THEY* are the ones who are messed-up; and are to be shunned as such. <!-- sWink --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- sWink -->
