Well Met, Strangers
Well hello there! Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and read/reply to my introduction thread. ^_^ I'm Forest, and it's really great to meet all of you. I'm a dashing millionaire that enjoys beautiful women and long walks on the bea--just kidding. Heheh, I'm a sixteen-year-old high school student with a love of all things creative, and I'm also gay so no beautiful women for me, heheh. I also have a thing for mother nature, flora more than fauna, but I love animals too. I'm also very big into knowledge. I love learning. I enjoy some topics above others (science over history, for example), but I'm generally happy and willing to learn about pretty much anything. The (uni, multi, omni)verse and all of its facets fascinates me. I also really love philosophy and mythology. Can't get enough. I plan on majoring in either chemistry or quantum physics in college, and hope I get into a research lab program of some sort. I'd love to get into a nuclear research plant.
Ah, now for the kin-related details. I spiritually identify as an elf. I've heard that some people place elves under the "Fae" umbrella, and some other elves might agree with this, but I personally do not identify as Fae, per se. I'm not from the Fae realms as far as I know, and I just don't "feel" Fae like I "feel" elf, if that makes any sense? As to how I know that I'm an elf, it's just something that I inherently feel and know. I realized that I was otherkin not too long ago (a few months), and only recently realized that I'm an elf due to just trusting myself and ceasing seeking "tests" from others who claim to be able to tell me who I am. Heh, as if anyone can actually tell me that. I felt silly for thinking so.
As for some specific details, I learned through meditation that the name of my people is the Kuro'sin, and that we are distantly related to the Elenari (not sure if you've heard of them). Our home is not of earth, and we all feel a connection to our world, but I feel like I've sort of formed an additional connection to the spirit of earth as well. I also know one of my given/chosen (complicated) names, and I may share it with some of you as I get to know/trust you more My first name I have not recalled yet, and it is a very personal thing. Each of my people has a "true name" of sorts that essentially embodies them in our language. It is a name not just of words, but also of thought and emotion and magic (I may have started to sound a bit looney there). It's a bit stereotypical, but we are a very magical people. Generally all of us are deeply aware of what I've come to call the Flow. I view this as the interconnection and symbiosis of all matter and energy. To me, everything is linked and connected like a gigantic puzzle. I can feel changes, shifts, and disturbances in this Flow, and manipulate or influence it to varying degrees. That's where part of our magic comes in. It's quite beautiful really. Like an elaborate symphony orchestra that you get to both listen to and conduct.
Religiously, I don't really practice any rites of any kind. If I had to identify with any belief, I would say that I come closest to an eclectic pagan. I am agnostic on the whole issue of "God", to where I don't claim to know if there is a god, but I think that there probably is. Due to my awareness and reverence for the flow, I suppose you could call me a pantheistic agnostic eclectic pagan. xD You can imagine how interesting and difficult this would be to explain to someone, so I generally respond as either "Spiritual" or "Agnostic" when asked for the sake of simplicity.
Ability wise, I mentioned the flow alteration and detection above. I'm empathic (annoyingly so), and I have a strong knack for energy manipulation. I've also found that I'm decent at reading energy and a pretty good telepath, though my receiving tends to leave a lot to be desired. I'm relatively decent at projecting myself in a sort of bilocation that serves as a proxy for astral travel for me since I have been unable to accomplish it. I fully expect skepticism on this one, but I feel a strong connection to the elements, and have noticed that I can cause the wind to pick up, die down, and change direction, along with some possible influence of storms. Any other elemental affinities I have yet to discover/may not possess. Whether this is an actual ability I possess, a natural occurrence, friendly spirits helping me out, etc., ad nauseum I can't say because there really isn't a concrete way for me to be 100% sure of that. Though I have been able to generate an indoor breeze, so that lent some credibility to my own skepticism. I've monitored various attempts at utilizing this ability inside and outside, and so far I've yielded results under various conditions the vast majority of the time (I figure the few failures can be chalked up to an off day. Who doesn't have them?).
Well, that's me in a not-so-nutshell! I can't believe I wrote that much. I did not originally intend to, but I got a bit carried away. Heheh. ^_^ Congrats if you got all of the way through that without falling asleep, or even attempted it at all. I myself probably wouldn't read a five (now six) paragraph introduction thread fully. I'd probably skim it. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to meet and get to know all of you!
