The realm of Faerie, and its courts
Lately, I've developed something of an obsession with finding out anything and everything I can about Faerie and its inhabitants -- particularly the Summer Court and its queens. I found Froud's books and have been devouring them, hungry for all sorts of knowledge. Unfortunately, most of the stuff I find on the Net is utter crap . . .

So, I have a few questions.

1. What is Faerie like, from what you may recall?

2. What sorts of things went on within the Summer Court?

3. I've read that Titania was Queen of the Summer Court for a time. What does anyone recall of her?

I ask these things because I'm starting to think that I was there for a time as Iophiel, in order to forget all the things that happened in Heaven -- in preparation for human incarnation.

Thanks so much for your time.

Ohhh interesting! I am curious myself. I wish I could help, but I am mostly sure I was either part of a separate Earthen court, or the Winter court. (I know I'm posted to the woods, but my time of high energy is later autumn/winter, and night time.) If I find anything else-where, through any of my offline fae friends, I will share!

That's like asking what is Earth like. Faerie is too vast a place to narrow it down to a simple description. Perhaps you could narrow your question down.

Ashaiel Wrote:2. What sorts of things went on within the Summer Court?
I don't hang out there so I really can't answer that. I would assume the same Courtly like nonsense that happens in the Winter Court.

She was, ages ago. I believe Tishanael is in charge now but as i said I don't frequent that circle and really couldn't say.

did you read my post entitled On the Fae? This might help give you some direction about things and I'm also availble to assist in any way i can

As airforcegrrl said, this is a really broad question. The answer for Underhill (which itself is not one single place) is not going to be the same as for the Summerlands is not going to be the same as for the Changing Lands.

Very briefly, and with the caveats that I have not been everywhere (far from it!) and not all of these will apply to every region of Faerie:

Self-luminous. Not needing light of sun or moon, although in some places stars are visible. In some places there is diffuse light as though the air were faintly luminous; in others the land quite obviously gives it off.

More colourful and vibrant. But in some places less, even desolate and shadowy.

More malleable. If you have the skill and power you can shape the land to your desires. But be wary of pissing off the local sidhe lord who may have had it landscaped to his taste.

A ridiculous variety of plant and animal life, and also living "inanimates" such as stones (although you might be surprised how alive a regular Earth stone is if you talk to it... ). Anything you've seen in a storybook probably has at least an analogue in Faerie.

I cannot answer these questions since so far as I know I was not Summer Court, although naming them for seasons rather than "seelie" and "unseelie" is what I remember. However besides Summer and Winter I also recall Spring and Autumn (which I think I may have been). Maybe these were minor courts as airforcegrrl spoke of in another post; I don't know.

p.s. Gee, Ashaiel, we just keep running into each other -- I'm starlightforest/esmestrella.

O hai, Eshari!

I have indeed read "On the Fae" a couple of times, but should probably read it again . . .

I would be more specific about what part of Faerie I was talking about if I actually remembered all that . . . but just what has been given already is helping loads. I remember very little of what went on there, you see, and any little bit helps.
