The Volcanic Eruption in Iceland
The volcanic eruption that's ongoing in Iceland right now.

No worries, it's a long ways to my south, on the other side of the island.
No one's been harmed by it yet some people have just been forced to move for the duration.

It's gorgeous is what.

The eruption is expected to go on for weeks, if not months.
The lava falls you can see in that vid (round 2 minutes in I think) is not only the tallest falls in Iceland at 200 meters but probably the tallest lava falls in the world.

I Love this, by the by!
LOVE!

Awesome.

Re: The Volcanic Eruption in Iceland
I know...

There's something, truly awesome, about nature's violent beauty as expressed by red-hot-melted-rock shooting out of the earth with terrible force, accompanied by soot and ash that the once pristine-white snow a jet black hue. The liquid magma running downhill, creating falls of fire and billowing white steam when it hits the snow. The contrast of black smoke and white steam.
The contrast of fire and ice.
The contrasts of black ash and blue sky.
The contrasts of the destructive force, and the new-earth, the creation/creative nature of it...

It's amazing.
It's inspiring.

It fucking Rocks!

You might already know this, but in most parts of Europe (including Ireland and UK) flights have been cancelled because of volcanic ash in the air.

And you do realize that by now most of the affected countries have resumed flights right?

Yup.

You know that our international airport is closing for the first time during this mess today?

The wind shifted.
