The (Oddly Missing) RP Thread!
No, I'm not suggesting we try a board-wide role-play. -_- I've seen how THOSE work. *facepalm* Not too good, no.

However, I'd like to hear everyone's RP experience. ^_^ Your characters, your preferred game, your best RP 'war' stories, your best and worst RP moment... You name it about role-playing, I want to hear it!!

I won't even TRY listing my characters, simply because I have about 300-400 of them {no definitive count has been made in a while} and that'd...fill the thread. I do have a fictional city called Brandenburg, Virginia- affectionately known as Freak Central- that I've been developing for over seven years. I've populated it with a number of characters- about 40 of them are main NPCs- and it's been blown up over seven times.
I've played every game in the old World of Darkness, D&D (2nd & 3rd ed,) Call of Cthulhu, Immortal: the Invisible War, Legend of the Five Rings, Diablo II (tabletop,) BESM and a myriad of others. (Ninja Burger was exceptionally fun, lemme tell you.) I've played a LOT of different characters (probably over 500 over the years) and I still have the character sheets for most of them. ^_^ I've murdered, abused, tortured, delighted, saved and enraptured every character I have- I'm going to RP Hell for sure *apologetic look at poor Briar*- and some amazing stories came out of it.

So... C'mon everyone! Lemme hear it! Bask in the geekiness! Bask in it!!!

Re: The (Oddly Missing) RP Thread!
My characters are almost entirely in a fantasy based setting, where you can practically get magical abilities in a sack at the store, or a good sized bastard sword if you can't do magic. My favorite characters to use are Kraela and Yriela (Yriela only if the other person can get her really pissed off somehow- she's incredibly passive otherwise), mostly because they enjoy it. It's like being in control of their own body in a world that actually fits them.

So far, my favorite rp moment absolutely has to be my recent three-page (on Word) torture session by Kraela, forcing her victim to go so far over the edge with pain and dejection that he was happy to die. And she was being nice.

My worst rp moment is whenever I accidently godmode- usually due to events that seem beyond my characters' normal capacity to survive.

My characters are not quite so lengthly, but I love them:

Deros
Kraela
Yriela
Mishod
Druscran
Gangran
Ursnon
Airdon
Dakrad
Khani
Auroran
Nolkranos
Tunggrown
Kiedon
Aya
Kreelin
Balthanas
Jonathan
Brick (real name William Richards)
Sindir/Saindi Aka (switched it to balance my gender list)
Hajike Kurana + Samson
Silas Zabek
Arik
Boro
Rhyna

Re: The (Oddly Missing) RP Thread!
I have played Deadlands, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, World of Darkness and a number of homemade PnP games (either d20 or d10 systems). I have had two extremely developed long term characters, both in a Deadlands campaign that lasted for.. almost six years.

I have wanted to play a Matrix RP ever since I began roleplaying. =[

Ah, Deadlands. How was that, anyway? I flipped through both of the books, but I never had a chance to play. It looked exceptionally interesting. What WoD games did you try? ^_^ *loves me some White Wolf* Matrix, for the record, is... interesting. *snerk* If you can avoid people who just remake the movie characters, it can be pretty fun.

I prefer free form role play, mostly over boards or anywhere I can get it. But I do also love D and D. Like F A I have too many chracters to list <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile --> I love role playing.

Love StarWars rpg, had a pirate with a transparent steel arm. Love Dungeons and Dragons, were I have a were-tiger bard that rocks. Add in City of Heroes, where I am a sword swinging scrapper named Twilight Messenger.

Re: The (Oddly Missing) RP Thread!
Long years I was playing in a Rolemaster Campaign (the first edition with those many Companions around) - a d100 ( 2 x d10) system. After the Gamemaster moved I took over the campaign and being Gamemaster now in it since 1993 or so, not only GMing a Fantasy setting but also a SciFi setting. My own PCs entered the NPC-status because they are well developed with Background story and all that. Today I am playing a GURPS PC in a SciFi Setting, a Sharpshooter and professional Killer "Rawhide" is his name. If you have seen Hitman in cinema - Rawhide is the more military version and created already in 2002 or so.

However my own PCs in former times echoe until today. There are Kronof, Achaiah, Raistlin, Varda, Ash and of course Valamezar, whose name I use today as Webnick.

If some people really see angels where others see only empty space, let them paint the angels. (John Ruskin, 1819 - 1900, english critic and writer)

Re: The (Oddly Missing) RP Thread!
I firmly believe that Deadlands is the best, most comprehensive PnP roleplaying game in existence.

My favorite characters:
Belle DeLeo - mulatto/Creole voodist in Deadlands.
Bear With Lightning - Cheyenne bear shaman in Deadlands.
Sam - Force sensitive Jawa in Star Wars.
Dylan - twelve year old girl, genetic experiment in All Flesh Must Be Eaten (zombie survival RP).

Anyone else have a specific game they love above all else? *sheepishly hides the Changeling the Dreaming ROCKS!!! sign*
