the glass acts as somewhat of a control, as an attempt to immobilize the air around the foil so that breathing will not produce a false positive. What WILL produce a false positive, however, is heat radiating from the "test subject's" hands. Ideally, temperature inside the glass would be closely monitored, but nobody who's done research (casually) has been able to do that.
