Spirit Guides
How did you get/find yours? Who/what is it? What does it do? Why has it made itself known to you?

Re: Spirit Guides
My spirit guide is a young she-wolf and she's always been with me. She made herself known to help me through some difficult times and she made herself known my curling up behind me on my bed (I thought she was my dog, but I reached back to pet my dog and there was nothing there). The first time I even knew of her, though, was in Illinois from a very creepy experience.

He chose me, and kept poking around in the back of my mind until he finally got my attention.

Malakoi Wrote:Who/what is it?

Wakinyan a.k.a The Thunderbeing a.k.a Thunderbird...I could give other names but they're not all polite ones.

He does a lot of energetic healing work on me, which is also a form of teaching because I can copy the technique to use on others. He teaches me other things through inspiration and by putting me into situations where he proves a point. (Sometimes painfully! He's not the most gentle of guides that's for sure.) Sometimes he just hangs out to keep me company and chat.

Malakoi Wrote:Why has it made itself known to you?

Not sure. I guess he likes me for some strange reason.

Insects seem to have a thing for me, with butterfly and spider being the most prominent (though wasp keeps appearing in several strange and in-your-face wasy). Butterfly was the one that cracked the ice, being the first to appear to me in a meditation attempt on my totem 5 months ago (still unsure of the whole totem thing actually). I wasn't expecting a butterfly to appear during then, they were never creatures that I paid attention to before. After that, I did some things with tarot cards and butterfly kept popping up, as well as showing up everywhere in real life. And I do mean EVERYWHERE. Backyard, wherever I'm driving, around my car, around the house, etc. The creepy thing was, no one else ever saw them. If I commented on all the butterflies in the backyard, they would vanish or flit away before anyone else saw them.

Along with butterfly, spider also became more prominent as well. It kept appearing in dreams and in my room =_=; All sorts of new species too I might add, ones even my family haven't seen before. Butterfly I'm still unsure of, but spider I'm pretty sure is to help me with my fears. I've never liked spiders, and I still get creeped out by them. I fear the dark, dusty places they often live in, the poison some have, and the way they move. So I'm assuming it's a shadow totem...I just wish they would stop hiding in my clean laundry.

And the wasps need to stop flying into my face. I don't need an allergic reaction while driving. I still can't figure those guys out yet, or what they could possibly be meaning.

As far as what they actually DO though, nothing much. They just make themselves known to me, and then I go researching to figure out what they're possibly saying and how it'll help me. I don't know if they're just temporary, sticking around for the long term, or even just all in my mind working it's way through my phobias and issues. It's too soon to tell.

Re: Spirit Guides
I've never sensed a spirit guide around me, never had the impression of having one. Whenever people try to read my guides, or contact them, they just end up describing Me or Mother. I started saying it as a joke years ago, but it may be true, "I used to have spirit guides, but a few lives ago I ate them"

Re: Spirit Guides
I don't think I have a totem, but the north wind seems to be a spirit guide for me... I had a very profound dream that involved an entity in a male humanoid form who introduced itself to me as the north wind (god/spirit? Who knows?), and said that he would always watch and accept me. But not that he'd always be right there. The wind came from the north for the next 3 days straight, when 95% of the time it would blow from the south where I lived, and most of the rest of the time came from the west.

On a not-so-related note, I looked up from a book one night to see a white tiger in my aunt's kitchen...

I only got the one, it's Raven, he's a little black feather ball of sarcasm and sometimes I wonder if he's not just "me".

Re: Spirit Guides
Are you referring to spirit guides as the same thing as totems or as something different? Some people lump them together (like me) and some people don't so I wanted clarification before I comment. <!-- sWink --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- sWink -->
