Terro was saying something about Glory being a tangible thing like plugging into a wall socket. I've been thinking more about this lately and it seems to me that it could be a way that angelic heirarchies might work, a distribution of energy as much as a distribution of authority. I believe that angelic beings are energy channelers of a sort, that the energy of a higher power shines through them, offering guidance and a boost to their own energies. It might come from 'God' itself, or perhaps from some other being higher up on the chain.

In one memory fragment, I remember standing guard while this light shone through me. I was perfectly happy and all was right in the world, but if I really think about it, the color of that light wasn't the same color that I normally think of as my own.

In another fragment, I was a leader on a battlefield, but I don't think I lead by barking orders. Instead it was like I lead by shining example, bringing inspiration and courage to others. Were those under my command really 'under the influence?'

And what would the implications be for a group of angels who are under one who falls? Could they break the chain before being pulled under too? In other words, I don't think it's just a matter of being 'stupid.'

Re: Source
That sounds consistent with what Ali and Nihil perceive of their Source - the distinction being that in their hierarchy, everything comes in complementary pairs. (Of course, the existence of one hierarchy like that does not necessarily mean that the others are all that way too...) It also would explain the difference in their strategies - Ali pouring in strength from without; Nihil tearing down whatever has weakened us so that we are, by default, now stronger than it. (Cliffs Notes: Nihil is the Fallen one of the pair.)

I am intrigued by your idea of Falling by hierarchy. I'd ask to subscribe to your newsletter, but I'm guessing there's not enough material there to have one yet. <!-- sSad --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- sSad --> At minimum, though, that would make an awesome story.

Nope, no newsletter. Just guesswork. Just wondering...

Lebshelem didn't fall, technically he never disobeyed, never turned dark, but he did individuate, suddenly deciding that his own judgement meant more to him than the status quo, right before he died. I have no idea what happened after that. Did those under his command also have a change of heart? I don't know. The story I was told ended with his death.

Re: Source
On the matter of one Fallen and the possibility of taking those under him down with him... That I disagree with, I have always believed that the Fall is a personal choice. No one can damn you but yourself. In cases such as the alleged Fall of the Grigori, the idea is that each member of the choir was in breach of divine mandate and each individually Fell. While many were for a great amount of time conditioned to do what was already wrong, they may have felt shocked or surprised, perhaps even felt they were wronged. A crime is a crime however.

I also think of it as the Creator having made Angels as an extension of herself, literally her eyes, ears and hands throughout Creation. Having this connection also gives the Creator the option of overtaking control, these are cases in which an Angel might cease temporarily to be who they are and become their purpose.

Examples of this would include the famous depiction and story of Michael binding the Morning Star and casting him down into the abyss. Michael's purpose is as the military leader and prime protector of the realm of Heaven. In his actions, the Creator could flow through him and use him as a vessel to completely overpower the Morning Star. Other times, let us suppose that Raguel, the Archangel considered to be the vengeance of God would literally cease to be Raguel and become Vengeance itself to exact punishment on those deserving of it.

The maximum effective range of an excuse is zero meters.

Re: Source
My working theory relies on a system that diludes the pure power of the Source for angels lower on the "ladder." It is commonly thought that there is a choir of angels who's sole purpose is dishing energy out to the angels who take on more active roles in the universe.

That being said, there is a small group of angels who have a much less diluted access. These I call the Light-touched. Off the top of my head I can think of four such angels (okay three plus one). Among those would be Michael, an angel named Anarii, and the Light-touched who isn't anymore Lucifer.

I know many people have their own feelings on the subject of Lucifer, but despite his fall he somehow still has access to a small portion of this power. What I know of Lucifer tells me he has retained a whole lot more than those that fell with him and since.

I dare an agnostic to prove he or she exists.
