Personally, most of my shields seem to be subconscious and only activate when I'm either being attacked or in threatening territory. Mostly I put shields around my house to keep the random spirits floating around down to a minimum (my mother has an affinity for mirrors, and there is this one particular one that sits at the end of the hall and acts like a freaking metaphysical highway... >.>). I also tend to put a personal touch to my shields, for instance my Hello Kitty shield. Its a simple dome shield I put around my house...just with a gigantic Hello Kitty face imprinted on it. I like it, it's fun <!-- s

*clears throat* ANYWAY, I don't ever just put up random personal shields. If I put up a shield it is to deflect a certain energy/entity and only used when I actually need it. Having shields up and running constantly is a drain on energy and makes you into a target.
