Re: Thoughts
I could see it as a point to how being ignorant is not something that which you should desire just so you can walk around and smile while the world is a terrible place around you. That it's one of these sayings that are meant to inspire people to want to change the world rather than just pretend it's not so bad.

Or

I could see it as a reminder to achnowledge the smiles you receive. That you should smile back and not pretend not to notice.

There's probably more ways to see it out there...but that's the top of my head thoughts

Re: Thoughts
To me, it's connected to the old saying: Ignorance is bliss. To not know, or to refuse to know, would make you happier than knowing. But it's not worth it. Your own happiness isn't worth it if you have to spend the entire time denying what you know.

Re: Thoughts
To me, it seems to imply that ignorance will never make you happier than knowing the "truth".

So, no matter how happy you think you are by being ignorant, it will never be worth as much as knowing the actual truth behind something.

When someone tells you, "you don't want to know," is it worth not knowing to keep that smile on their face?

Nope. Ask anyway, even if it makes the person frown and feel uncomfortable.

I sometimes smile when I'm in the situation of "Ah man, I know what's gonna happen. The universe is amazing! *gets out proverbial lawnchair to watch*" Why give up that smile based on knowledge for the bliss that is ignorance? Ignorance may be bliss, but you gotta know something to get an Or.. crap, this isn't in the adult forums. Let's just call it an explosion of euphoria adults know how to induce upon themselves <!-- sBig Grin --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- sBig Grin -->.

Even if I know a butt-whoopin' is what's coming up on my path, it's better to learn that than to ignore things or perhaps even "cross that bridge when I come to it"

That's just me.

If you have the opportunity to learn the truth about a matter, but don't do it for the express purpose of making others like or respect you, you've got a lot to learn besides the truth.

Re: Renamed: Thoughts about a particular quote
I suppose it's related to how, even if it means you're happier sometimes, ignorance is just not worth it.
