Please help the wolves!
Quote:The Bush/Cheney administration has just eliminated federal protections for wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies, opening the door to the slaughter of hundreds of America's most beloved wolves.

This decision leaves the region's wolves at the mercy of outrageous state management plans that could lead to the killing of all but 300 wolves – eliminating 80% of all the wild wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies.

If you care, I urge you to sign this petition and show your support for the wolves of Yellowstone. I hate to shove this in everyone's face, but I just can't stand this kind of stupidity, and I can't think of any group of people who care more about the Earth and it's creatures than the otherkin. And besides, there are incarnated wolves here among us and I know we all care about them.

I apologize if I'm bothering anyone with this.

I can't believe this... Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the wolf population barely just growing? I'm signing this, but I wonder, do online petitions really work?

I'm pretty sure you're right. The major plans for wolf conservation have only been in motion a few years I think. It isn't like they've had much time, and all wild animals lose young to natural causes which further halts fast expansion.

As for the petition success, it varies, I suppose. The group I work through has had it's successes and it's losses. But I always say that, even if it looks hopeless, to always try your best anyways.

What's that saying? It's something about good men doing nothing.

I'd like to say this: I signed that petition a while back.

And now, they won't stop emailing me. T_T

I doubt it was the same petition.....

You forgot to uncheck the box, didn't you. The often ask you when you sign whether or not you want to get alerts and this and this and this.

I did uncheck the box. And I still get, "the whales are suffering too!" emails.
Me be never doing this again. I'll just go to Alaska and protest.

Meh. Me, I think a bursting inbox is a small price to pay for being in the know about everything happening everywhere...(Yes, I get THAT many alerts. Politics, environment, food contamination, the works..) But that's just me. I've been told that I'm extreme.

Re: Please help the wolves!
Thank you for posting this Kayako, I really appreciate it! (even if I'm not an incarnated wolf )

However, my husband sent me this link yesterday: N. Rockies' Gray Wolves Coming Off Endangered List.

The below is cross-posted from my LJ regarding this issue in case anyone cares.
Personally, I don't agree with removing Canis Lupus from the endangered species list. Only being "endangered" for 13 years when we've spent hundreds of years slaughtering them? And there's only about 1,500 in the wild; compared to the species once being a major predator across the United States that doesn't seem like a major increase to me. True, it's better than the poor Mexican Wolf where there are only about 300 left IN CAPTIVITY. That subspecies is extinct from the wild. It just doesn't seem fair or like we're giving wolves a fair chance at a real come back. The bald eagle was on the endangered list for about 20 years before being re-listed as "threatened" so why aren't wolves at least being re-listed? Because people hate wolves and think that their livelihood is in danger from these animals. I think these people need to do their homework because wolves are not a threat to anyone.
And the worst part is that people will once again be able to shoot them. And that sickens me. I called my representatives and signed petitions and it seems to have done nothing.
I really wish people could understand that wolves are not evil, destructive monsters but a natural part of the ecosystem. Maybe someday people will get it...
At least the hunting won't start until after we've gone out west so I still have the opportunity to see wolves in the wild.
And call me biased, but this is how I feel.

I got the same email. It makes me angry. I wish I could do something more...aggressive.. *sigh*

Re: Please help the wolves!
I signed. I wrote something about treating all animals (including humans) the same way in regards to the right to kill them. Including me, so I'm not being hypocritical with it.
