Phantom proportion to physical body size
I was having this discussion with an angel buddy of mine the other day and figured I’d bring it up here.

We were going over what might be worse to deal with, having a soul that did not match up at all with one’s body (so basically most all phantom bits are totally off from the physical parts) or a soul that is just off by a rather small amount (so it’s not overly obvious but enough so to still feel noticeable).

My soul’s shape is grotesquely disproportionate to my physical body, so nothing usually feels in sync to me. It doesn’t really bother me anymore since I’ve gotten used to the sensation of everything being out of place.

Meanwhile, she describes her soul as just being off from how she feels her soul is shaped, her physical hands and feet are just to short, her waist is just too big and minus the angel wings everything else just about fits, but still not quiet. So for her, the sensation isn’t as constant but a subtle reminder that nothing feels quite where it should be.

From the sound of our two arguments, I’d say what she has to put up with is worse. At least in my case it’s so off it doesn’t really bother me since it’s a constant that can be gotten used to cause it doesn’t really change. While she explained to me that she feels as though it all just fits, then a movement of hers causes the uneven sensation that catches her attention and feels awkward again.

Re: Phantom proportion to physical body size
I've only had this problem when I do a purposeful shift, but then it's fine because, yeah, I'm doing this on purpose. It's supposed to feel odd.

Quick correction, actually- a few months back, I had a problem with waking up and my phantom form not quite matching up with my physical body. My best theory for that is that when I was asleep, by phantom body just stopped paying attention to what my physical body was shaped like and just found something more comfortable to settle as.

Re: Phantom proportion to physical body size
Reading both scenarios, I'd say that for me having the soul that didn't match up at all would be worse. I could deal with a subtle difference, in fact I do since I feel my ears daily and they're not physically there, etc. But I think that having a soul that's huge, like yours is chai, would be more stressful than just being a bit off. However, once or twice I have gotten the 'why the hell am I so tall and standing on only two legs?!?' sensation but it's not enough to really throw me out of whack. At least, it hasn't been yet. <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->

Re: Phantom proportion to physical body size
Personally, my energy body is the same as my physical one, except my physical one is a bit more "buff" and has my various appendages (spines etc). Size and propotion wise it's basically the same.

IMO this is most likely because the shape of my energy body is decided by my expectations, not the other way round.

Re: Phantom proportion to physical body size
My entire body feels incongruent, more in some ways than in others, to my subtle body and it is.. relatively.. horrible. I wear extremely specific, heavily modified clothing just to get through the day without feeling like I'm falling apart.

Re: Phantom proportion to physical body size
I am physically over a foot taller than my subtle form.
It usually just results in me being a little clumsy with hands and feet.

Personally, I agree, as I think I fit more with the angel than the dragon here. I know that Chaitea would dwarf me if we were comparing souls (dragons trump gryphons in pure mass), and maybe that's part of it. Gryphons are notably bigger than humans, but not to the degree of a dragon - if someone were to see both me and my soul while I was laying down, certain parts (the hips, the shoulders, the legs and arms/forequarters) would match up, but there would be much more girth to my soul, as well the extra parts (the long neck, the tail, the wings...). This means that things match up just enough for me to get disoriented when I think of preening, and then notice that not only do I not have a beak or feathers, but my neck wouldn't let me reach my shoulder feathers if I had them.

Re: Phantom proportion to physical body size
I'm kinda with Archer on this one. My energy body is exactly the size I expect it to be. I may have extra extensions on my energetic body, but those are as often as not a matter of mood. If I'm stressed or overly energized I might let the teeth and talons hang out. If I'm in a good mood, you'll get the androgynous bishie angel. It's not exactly the same as my physical form, but it matches up those parts that are similar. However, that has nothing to do with size, which I think of as being entirely relative and optional. If I'm wandering around in the astral my size is whatever it ends up being, which varies by a huuuge amount, and seems directly related to whatever I'm focusing on at the time.

My discomfort tends to come more from energy balance than size, which I guess how energy beings measure 'size.' If I draw it in at a rate that makes my spirit feel all cozy, my earthly energy channels start to show some wear and tear. There's nothing like a sunburn on the inside of your skin to start off the day.

Re: Phantom proportion to physical body size
I think a slight difference IS harder to deal with. My sitherdahn form - completely not a human shape at all - is the most physically comfortable form I assume. I have no legs, my arms are muscled strangely (the bottom portion being very bulky), my neck is some 2 feet long and I have a snout rather than a face, and fin-like ear flaps. Yep, perfectly comfy.
Meanwhile, Archaia struggles with being taller and longer (than my already abnormally tall and long body, heh), Kazorando is too short and has stubby fingers, and Inky...well, Inky can just change her shape to match the body, so it doesn't really bother her. The rest rarely if ever come out, so I don't know.
