Otherkin and Physical Oddity
There was a thread about this on another forum I visit at one point, and I think it'd be interesting to see what people here think.

There seems to be, in my experience a high occurance of physical oddity on the otherkin community. Whether or not you believe in 'physical otherkin' aside, do you think this is indicative of anything?

Please explain? O_o What do you mean about physical oddity?

Re: Otherkin and Physical Oddity
*random theory* It's possible that the physical oddities are what cause some otherkin to awaken in the first place. Obsession over differences can, in some cases, bring other differences to the surface.

Ok, I'll use myself as an example, because, well, it's really easy.
  • I'm partiall (mostly) colorblind, I have very very good night-vision, though am not overly light sensitive[/*:m]
  • I have abnormally dense bones[/*:m]
  • I have abnormal bone structure including ridges, notches, extra joints, missing joints, etc[/*:m]
  • I have yellow flesh[/*:m]
  • I have higher-than normal red & white blood cell counts[/*:m]
  • My blood clots faster than normal[/*:m]
  • My blood is more viscous than normal[/*:m]
  • I don't retain cholesterol properly[/*:m]
  • I have overactive adrenal glands[/*:m]
  • I heal faster-than-normal[/*:m]
  • I gain/lose weight/muscle faster than normal[/*:m]
  • I'm reistant or immune to MANY drugs[/*:m][/list:u]

There may be some I'm missing, here...there's a lot.
All of these listed have been confirmed by at least 2 doctors.

I've also seen people with abnormal tooth formations, abnormal digestive tracts, etc.
Plus, if you count vampires with actual extreme light sensitivity, like I think Zilchy suffers from, as well as ones that claim heightened senses or healing...

Re: Otherkin and Physical Oddity
To be honest in that respect I don't think there is a correlation. I have a heart defect, that's all that's wrong with me. I know some that have WAY worse issues than that and are human. So who's to say its linked?

Re: Otherkin and Physical Oddity
That's not quite what I'm getting at.
I'm not saying every person with something unusual about them is 'kin.
NOR am I saying every 'kin must have something unusual about them.

I'm merely saying that, in my experience there's a fairly large rate of occurance of oddity in 'kin.

Do you think that could possibly mean anything?

Not really becuase I equally know as many kin with NOTHING wrong with them at all. In fact aside from being otherkin they're physically and mentally "normal". I've never heard of this until you posted it actually.

If you mean you know equal numbers of 'kin who are normal as ones that aren't, that in itself is abnormal. Physical oddities are not normal a 50/50 thing. 50/50 is, afaik a fairly unusually high occurance. Which is what I was getting at.

No, my point was that I don't see a correlation. Based on what I've read of your posts, you're asking if a kin's physically differences are something significant. I say no, becuase every human being has something "wrong" with them at some point. Its called mortality and it suckith. I just don't see otherkin with more of an occurrence of physical oddness than anyone else.
