Otherkin & Therian Symbol
As some of you here have probably already seen, there's been some serious discussion on this thread over on the Werelist regarding a therian and Otherkin pride/awereness symbol. The point isn't so much what it will be used for, but rather to have a unifying symbol between the two distinct communities.

Since each group already has a widely used and recognizable symbol each (the theta-delta for therians and the seven pointed star for otherkin) I suggested combining the two into one, signifying the similarities between the two communities and making a brand new, distinct symbol both groups can use together. A new symbol to represent both communities together.

So far on the Werelist, the agreed upon consensus is the theta-delta inside the seven pointed star. Like the design I made below.

However, it's not really fair to create a new symbol for both communities if the Otherkin community 1. don't know about this discussion and 2. has not had a chance to add their perspective and suggest specific design elements to it.

So I'm posting this here and in other 'kin forums I frequent (feel free to cross-post this to other places) to get some input. Thoughts please?

Re: Otherkin & Therian Symbol
I like it, but I don't really identify with either symbol. They both seem so spiritual (even though I know a lot of therians identify with psychological stuff) so they just don't click right with me *shrug*. I wear a septagram on occasion, but that's more out of not having any other known symbol to use lol.

Re: Otherkin & Therian Symbol
Sera, couldn't the circle also symbolize unity and the triangle represent higher learning (ie the mind)? I could see the triangle as being 1. pointing towards the mind (the highest point) and 2. rising towards intelligence. But maybe I'm just stretching it.

Re: Otherkin & Therian Symbol
It could, but I associate pretty much entirely with therianthropy so that sorta kills any other possible meaning for me lol.

*is confused* I was referring to the theta-delta part of the design. So if you connect more with therianthropy, what I said could still work to symbolize a psychological reasoning behind it with the theta-delta.

Re: Otherkin & Therian Symbol
My point was that I don't identify as a therian (even if therian communities seem to jive more with my concept of my self indentity) and in my brain the theta delta is a therian symbol, so it just doesn't work for me. I'm just me-kin I guess lol.

Re: Otherkin & Therian Symbol
It's okay I'd say, but the thing that just doesn't fit in there is the center.
It's symbol so.. It feels like 'Kins are all around (outside) while Therians are inside and in the middle.

Maybe something that's common for both Therians and 'Kins should be there. For example if there would be some kind of symbol meaning "I strive for unity with my trueself" I'd put it there as I believe that it's something that is common for 'Kin and Therian community and keep the rest as it is.

"Oh look I have wings on my back!"
"So.., does it mean you can fly?"
"I- I don't know.."
