I did it once before and it’s still something I’m interested in since from the last one I discovered a lot of great otherkin related songs for a soundtrack I compiled. Also, it’s a nice way to get to know people better (along with some of their tastes in music).
So without further ado, I ask for your otherkin theme song. Think of it like this: what do you want playing during the opening credits for your otherkin sitcom/soap opera/musicale/drama/sports broadcasting/Home Ec. instructing/sketch comedy/talk show/Saturday morning cartoon theme song?
Mine hasn’t changed, since the main one would definitely still be:
Blackmore’s Night – The Storm
Quote:A timeless and forgotten place,
The moon and sun in endless chase
Each in quiet surrender
While the other reigns the skies…
The midnight hour begins to laugh
A summer evening's epitaph,
The winds are getting crazy
As the storm begins to rise… (2x)
Wild were the winds that came
In the thunder and the rain
Nothing ever could contain
The rising of the storm…
In the wings of ebony
Darkened waves fill the trees
Wild winds warning
Ample through the air…
[Chorus]
Follow the storm now I've got to get out of here…
Follow the storm as you take to the sky…
Follow the storm now it's all so crystal clear,
Follow the storm as the storm begins to rise…
She seems to come from everywhere
Welcome to the dragon's lair
Fingers running through your hair
She asks you out to play…
For all of nature's sorcery
The most bewitching entity
Hell can have no fury
Like the rising of the storm…
[Chorus]
Follow the storm now I've got to get out of here…
Follow the storm as you take to the sky…
Follow the storm now it's all so crystal clear,
Follow the storm as the storm begins to rise…
As the storm begins to rise…
Though I have a few others one the backburner which I feel do sum up my kinship as well:
Bruce Dickenson – Tears of the Dragon (More of an after the awakening and hading into the fun feelings of turmoil, denial and acceptance of what I felt I was yet couldn’t be. Yay internal struggles with one’s crazy.)
Flyleaf – Broken Wings (During my awaking i was also going threw my first serious relationship. He was very understanding and patient with me threw the entire process, and this song reminds me of his support as well as how lost I still felt)
Sisco – Unleash the Dragon (What? Don’t judge me!) <!-- s:oops: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_redface.gif" alt=":oops:" title="Embarrassed" /><!-- s:oops: -->
As for the explanation as to why I settled on The Storm: after a good listen it’s clear that the song is describing a dragon (wing’s of ebony, dragon’s lair, ect.) in an inaccessible setting (I relate this to being somewhere in me since I see the dragon as a part of my self and not as a separate entity {at least anymore, yay almost acceptance!}). To me, it’s about the rising of the dragon from this place, thus I attribute this greatly to my awakening.
Also the rhythm of the music and flow of the lyrics portray the emotions I went threw during that period of my life. Calling it a storm is overly fitting to the point that a lot of my mental shifts can still feel like residual storms resurfacing.
