Orders Of the Clestial Hierarchy
First Angelic Sphere

Seraphim - (Spirits of love/fire makers or carriers of warmth) Represent total peace and love. Humans rarely perceive the seraphs but if the Seraph wants they can alter their vibrations to be seen or felt by humans.

Cherubim - (fullness of knowledge) Second in rank. God's record keepers as well as guardians of the light and stars.

Thrones - (Spirits of will) They symbolize all seeking wisdom and also serve as the court to consider the dispositions of God.

Second Angelic Sphere

Dominations - (Spirits of Wisdom/dominions, lords and kuriotetes). Duties of angels, govern the physical plane, kingdom of nature and the elements.

Virtues - (Spirits of Movement/the shinning ones or the brilliant ones) Beings in charge of granting and providing courage to those who perform deeds of nobility and virtue against all things evil.

Powers -(Spirits of Form/potentiates, dynamis authorities) Warrior patrols on alert for the forces of darkness, both in spirit and earth realms. Work to maintain balance between Good and Evil in God's universe.

Third Angelic Sphere

Principalities - ( Spirits of personality or time/principle powers) They watch over the actions, karmas, and destines of earth beings. Also are in charge of religions on earth.

Archangels - (Free Spirits) They are in charge of heaven's armies and battle against hell. Supervisors of guardian angels.

Angels - (Sons of Life or Twilight) Serve as holy messengers between humans and God, intercede taking our prayers to God and return with the answers.

Re: Orders Of the Clestial Hierarchy
That might be valid if you ascribe to a Judeo-Christian-Islamic paradigm (and keyword here is "might"), but I personally don't go along with this hierarchy...at all.

Re: Orders Of the Clestial Hierarchy
I second Seraphyna.... for me this hierarchy isn't valid either. Allthough I did make the experience that there are some angels who are something like "honored elders" within the angelic families.

Re: Orders Of the Clestial Hierarchy
This hierarchy is from Judeo-Christian and Islam texts, among some Sumerian documents, along with some things that I've never seen before, i.e. "Sons of Twilight".

It's interesting to see it here.
Many people find lists similar to this one legitimate, while many people don't.

Either way, it's all interesting to see how to see different cultures define things.
I personally believe in some of the names used, but not all of them, and not all the definitions either.

But, opinions are opinions, made when there is no evidence yet to prove things.
And everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Re: Orders Of the Clestial Hierarchy
I have seen this list in many places. It is interesting to note that it was created many years ago by someone living in a caste system. The author of the book did his best to describe angels, comparing them to human standards.

However, I find that it''s easier to separate angels into broader groups based on what the angel does in the "grand scheme of things." Generally speaking, an angel guards, heals, inspires, or brings messages (though I will not deny there may be other tasks) Though, some angels excell at many tasks.

Re: Orders Of the Clestial Hierarchy
Actually, for people who keep saying it's the Judeo-Christian-Islamic Hierarchy...no, it's not. It's a Christian Hierarchy from the 16th (?) century, it is radically different than the Jewish heirarchies, both eso and exoteric, and it's different from the looser structure of the Islamic angels.

When we first begin all things simply are.
As we grow all things are external.
As we learn all things are internal.
As we understand all things are not.

Re: Orders Of the Clestial Hierarchy
Could people please, when they post things like this, at least note down what mythology it comes from? Otherwise it's like saying "Warp 9 is the fastest!" on a Star Wars message board.

I merely said it was similar to, derived from the texts.
And I'm right, it is similar to, because the Christians derive most of their angelic personifications from the Jews.

The hierarchy above is most definitely not "the" Judeo-Christian Hierarchy, but it derives a lot from it.
All three of these religions, whether anyone likes it or not, are linked, and so is the hierarchy.
They all have differences, but all of them share key words and meanings.

As for the Islamic angels, they bare very different components, but some of the "choirs" above identify.
Angels in nature have been seen across cultures and throughout time, this is just another piece to the puzzle.
