Re: One Hundred Pushups!
looks nice, simple and effective.

I would recommend however also working in the opposite direction, getting a pull up bar either wall mounted or door frame mounted and working pull ups as well.

Get that push and pull mechanism running.

As another side, they recommend "knuckle" push ups for those who feel discomfort in the wrists, there is an easier method than that. putting dumbells on the ground and placing your hands on the handles will put a lot less pressure on the wrist and still give you proper push up form while not forcing you to put your knuckles on the ground. Additionally having your hands elevated off the ground even that short few inches by the dumbell handle will allow you greater range of motion in your pushups.

The maximum effective range of an excuse is zero meters.

Re: One Hundred Pushups!
Don't have any dumbbells, and I can't do a single pull-up (yet) though I'm working on strengthening those muscles as well as a part of my physical therapy workout.

Re: One Hundred Pushups!
Utilize a chair, foot on the seat of it is easier, foot high on the back is harder, the closer the chair is to you the harder it is. Use the assisted pull ups putting as much weight as you need to on the chair with that one foot while the other hangs down.

You will develop that muscle, and you will do it quickly. Working both pushing and pulling will give you an amazing upper body workout.

The maximum effective range of an excuse is zero meters.

Re: One Hundred Pushups!
Just took a look at this, because I've been very half-heartedly looking for a decent but simple strength program for a while now. I managed to squeeze out 40 in the initial test, but I had to pause at 25 (still in pressup position, with arms straight) to take a few deep breaths . . . . so depending on how to count it I'm somewhere in the middle, rank 3 or 4.

I'm heading off for the weekend, back on Monday, but yeah, I think I'll sign up for this! *flexes biceps*

Min, I have JOINED YOU!

Edit: Took a bit more of a look around the site and it looks fun! I might sign on for some variation of the 200 squat challenge too, as of all the basic exercises it's by far the most useful for hockey goalies. Unfortunately situps is currently out as lower back problems and a verrry hard floor mean that strength or otherwise, I can't really do many situps/crunches without hurting myself

Re: One Hundred Pushups!
I'm thinking about doing this, however my husband and I recently started going back to the gym to do weight lifting so I'm not sure. My arms are still sore from last nights work out! But I'm definitely interested now that I'm more concerned with toning than losing weight.

Building muscle and burning fat go together great . . . the more muscle you have, a) the better shape you are and b) the more calories you burn just by sitting there doing nothing

Still got to find something to actually pull me up by... and compensate for my height... (6'2 I can put my elbow up into the top end of the doorframe!)
I'll have a look around once I get payed next...

Also..

Very true! And after dropping 65 pounds (er...about 29.5 kg) believe me I know! (And yes it was intentional!)
