New System Name
We have agreed to now be known as House Hesson. When unsure of who is front, "Hesson" or "Hess" is an acceptable way of addressing us. When speaking of the group as a whole, we prefer the full system name to be used.

Admins, if one of you could change our user name, we'd like that very much.

Lufferly choice of name, you guys! (Although, it'll take me a while to get out of the habit of calling you 'Garnets'. )

Ditto. Damn you for changing my rut. Although I must admit that it is a good name.

Re: New System Name
Thank you. ^_^ And we certainly won't be bothered if the change takes a little while to sink in.

Re: New System Name
i forgot to mention that i changed the name... even though it was obvious.

and yes, it will be difficult to get used to the new name.

Why did you choose that name exactly?

Re: New System Name
That question has been making the rounds. Time, yet again, to copy/paste our original response!

Shainin Wrote:We started playing around with ideas for a new legal name, or at least a false singlet name, for the hundredth time and finally settled on the last name of Hesson. We'd like to bridge some of the gap between our public persona and our real selves, not to mention take the opportunity to escape the potentially confusing use of the word "host," and so we decided it was time for a change. (We haven't decided on first or middle name for the singlet name; Aisling is a frontrunner for one or the other.)

Val did post a brief comment on the vampire allusions on kherete.org and I think it would've been relevant to post elsewhere: We did not mean it in the vampiric context but it's still somewhat applicable in that way. We have psi-vamp tendencies that are mostly treatable without feeding - something about our recent trip to Texas made us vamp out a few times there. We are our own little community. It fits.

We'd originally wanted to go with Clan Hesson, as Clans are the primary social building blocks of my kintype's culture and a majority of the system comes from that culture. However, we also want to be able to take non-system-members into our perceived Clan-in-this-world and it would be a bit odd for our system name to be a Clan-name that we're also sharing with outsiders. A House in that context, a family line within a Clan united by a common, distinguished ancestor, seemed like a better fit for our system name. Houses tend to be vicious little things, full of competition on the inside yet united against their members' enemies outside, so there was some reluctance...but it's the most appropriate analogy, and a House does not have to be full of competition on the inside. As we intend to prove by example.
