Re: My friend may be a fae
I’m no fae expert, but I do know a halfway decent reference book when I come across one (or a few):

Encyclopedia of Fairies: Hobgoblins, Brownies, Bogies, & Other Supernatural Creatures (Pantheon Fairy Tale and Folklore Library)
by Katharine Briggs

The Great Encyclopedia Of Faeries
by Pierre Dubois

A Complete Guide to Faeries & Magical Beings: Explore the Mystical Realm of the Little People
by Cassandra Eason

Illustrated Encylopedia of Fairies
by Anna Franklin

Good Faeries Bad Faeries
by Brian Froud

The World Guide to Gnomes, Fairies, Elves & Other Little People
by Thomas Keightley

Spirits, Fairies, Leprechauns, and Goblins: An Encyclopedia
by Carol Rose

There's a start with a broad base of genral information to go on.

Brian Froud's original Faeries is also quite good.

"Someday after we have mastered the winds, the waves, and gravity, we will harness for God the energies of love; and then for a second time in the history of the world, human beings will have discovered fire." - Teilhard de Chardin

Out of curiousity what makes you or her think she is a fae?

Re: My friend may be a fae
I would second that, and also ask if she has any experiences that she has related to you that would be indicative of this.

The big key play here is tracking down influences, if someone watches "Labyrinth" and gets really into it and has a few dreams about being a goblin of some kind... they may not be credible. If there is no feasible influence, and no events that would trigger odd dreams or experiences, then you look at it for the factors of what these experiences contained. Sometimes one of those pocket dream dictionaries is useful in determining meanings which can then direct it either towards being just a dream, or being something different altogether.

Re: My friend may be a fae
Thanks for this guys. Internet sources would also be a great help.
She's always believed in fairies since as long as she can remember and used to always think she was one. This may be common for a little girl however as she got older the belief never died and she always had this vivid dream where she was flying downstairs. She was in first person perspective and all she did was look down at her feet as she flew downstairs.
She's had this strong connective feeling with fae all her life and she's still looking into it but suspects she may be one.
She also used to go looking for fae when she was little and when she was a bit older.

Re: My friend may be a fae
Well lots of kin have the ability to fly.
And lots of fae like to hang around people that believe in them.

It is entirely possible that she is.

Has she done any meditation to find out more?

Re: My friend may be a fae
I don't believe she has but we haven't talked about it much.
I'll have to bring up the topic and ask her more about it.
Any questions to ask her would also be greatly appreciated XD

Re: My friend may be a fae
I think the big thing I would want to know is why she thinks she is a faerie or some other fae. Beyond simply an afinity for the creatures. I'd look for the same sorts of things you would look for in yourself if you where to ask yourself 'what makes you think you are what you are.' <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

Re: My friend may be a fae
I'd say it's possible, if she is interested you can always bring her by here and she can post her experiences or even just lurk around and gather information.

As far as the dream of flying downstairs, it could even be an astral projection, in which case most everyone can fly and your appearance is dependent on your self-image.
