Kemetic Angelkin
Hi, I'm new to this site, and to otherkin. I am very familiar with therianthropy, and am actuallly a leopard therian. After posting on a therian forum about how, since I was a teenager (I'm in my early 30's now), I've collected statues and pendants of Bast and Sekhmet, my affinity for these entities going beyond liking them, to the point where I feel bound to them, almost a need to serve them somehow. It never made sense to me, especially as I am a very eclectic Christian. But then I came across the concept of Celestial Otherkin, specifically Angelkin. Could there be Kemetic Angelkin? Could there be something to my feeling attached and bound to Bast & Sekhmet? Any information or help would be very appreciated!! -Ava

Re: Kemetic Angelkin
First off, welcome. I moved this post because it's really more of an intro than a querie. Second, out of curiosity how did you come to the conclusion that you're a leopard therian? Finally, to answer your question, "angel" is derived from the greek "angelos" meaning messenger. They can be found in most world religions past and present under various titles, so yes there are "angels" that "serve" the Egyptian pantheon. That being said, it could also be that those deities are trying to get your attention in the now and/or you have a connection to them and that is why you feel the need to serve them. Only you can figure out which it is.

Re: Kemetic Angelkin
Hi Seraphyna, thanks for moving my post - it does fit well as an introuction How do I know, did I find out I was a leopard therian...it's an odd story, even for a therian /laughs/. My entire life, I knew I was more non-human than human; I would vehemently assert I was NOT a primate, and always have felt so wrong in this two-legged, tail-less body. I first discovered the concept of therianthropy in the mid-2000's, and was elated. There was a name for how and what I felt! At the time, I had in my life a dog with very wolflike qualities, and had met a wolfdog as well. I was active in wolf conservation, and initially believed I was a wolf therian - attributing my shifts ( mental, sensory, phantom, astral ) to that canine. Eventually, I believed no, I was a wolfdog therian - my phantom tail curled too much, my legs were too short, and my mental shifts did not quite resemble a wolf. And I held this wolffdog therian belief for about four years. Then came April-May of this year (2012). First, I was overwhelmed with the feeling of a big cat, leopard, totem's presence, as well as feeling nearness toward Bast and Sekhmet. I thought, what the heck do these cats want with a dog? Two days or so this lasted, and the strength of this totemic, outside presence was like nothing I've ever experienced. Suddenly, these entities, or their emissaries left me alone, and I felt lost - I knew something was off. A day later, I felt my entire phantom body for the first time and my mental shifty-side became one with my human-thought-side. There was no doubt I was leopard. The long tail, the feline thought process: they weren't really anything new, they were simply things I was denying myself in my stubborn belief I was a wolfdog therian. As soon as I gave in to the idea I was a leopard therian, I felt an enormous weight lift from me, both symbolically and psychically. I felt like ME for the first time since I was a child. And I have been happier, more confident ever since.

Re: Kemetic Angelkin
Welcome to OKP!

There are Kemetic angels and I believe there's one or two floating around here in fact. Since 'angel' tends to directly reflect 'Christian', celestial is the usual term for critters not of the Judeo-Christian paradigm.

Re: Kemetic Angelkin
Dear Seraphyna and Elinox: thank you for the welcome and on Kemetic celestials. On this topic, any information is new information, so it is *very* helpful. Oh, and my therian story is shortened because I get wordy and ran out of space. /lol/. Also, a warning: until my PC is back from the repair place from erm PC hell, I'm using a phone to access this site. This means I can't make paragraph breaks, in spite of my QWERTY-keyboard. No, all my "enter" or "return" button does is act as a tab key....not very helpful, as my directional buttons also do the same. Computer could be back soon, who knew a new fan and new keyboard would take a month to order & install, geesh.

Re: Kemetic Angelkin
Hello and welcome to forums here.

I'm Zeoriel, part of multiple system of various therian and otherkin. I myself am a Harpy otherkin. I'm being to practice Kemeticism, and while I'm still knew and researching the ancient Egyptian they never really had a concept of "angels" really. I think the closest I could think of would be the netjeri which are unseen beings that are neither gods nor human. However that is a rather board term it seems.

Re: Kemetic Angelkin
Dear Zeoriel, thank you for the reply! I've met members of multiple systems before ( thought I was one for a while about ten years ago ), but have never met a Harpy otherkin! Thank you for the information on the netjeri - yet another new term for me to research /smile/. It's been a while since I have felt such a newbie (or is it noob?) on a subject! So I appreciate your kindness in helping me a lot. -Ava
