Insect Therians
just was reminded of an episode i had a while ago, thought id post it up...

i was walkin from taylor to fsj (a pair of towns 10 miles away i was in ages ago), half way there i saw these old dodges in this big yard with barns in the yard (i had bee nactively looking for an old truck to buy at the time), and it was early winter so wasnt watchin too much, then i wander in and hear this wierd buzzing - i see this forklift loading pallets to a truck and it dawned on me - O SHIT, BEES!! i got bundled up REAL fast, hooded sweater, gloves, all the clothing i had on hand went on. im not allergic but it IS more painful than i care for. anyway, wandered in and met the owners - since i was already kinda committed, lol. got to talkin to the owners, and i normally dont try to peg people as kin - but this husband and wife, i swore they were bee kin. the wife had the total "queen bee" feel, and natrually the hubby was the worker bee.

anywho, who else has met/ knows of insect kin? i figure they exist, given my own experiences anyway.

Re: Insect Therians
I've heard of their existance as well as plant-kin, but have never personally met one...although I don't see why it couldn't happen since all living things have a soul/essence/etc.

Re: Insect Therians
Moved to the Therian section since bugs would be a type of therian (technically insects are animals).

Like Meirya, I've only ever heard of Earwing. She used to be fairly active on the Werelist but I don't know if she still is. I imagine there are insect therians, as I'm sure there are every type of animal therian out there somewhere too. The trick is finding them! Why are mammals so popular? No idea, but that's a topic for another thread. <!-- s:roll: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="" title="Rolling Eyes" /><!-- s:roll: -->

Re: Insect Therians
I have a friend that describes the way he thinks as a ‘hive mind.’ That basically what it comes down to (after an hour long explanation) and it reminded me very much of the way a have of insects work.

While he doesn’t believe in near anything spiritual, the energy he gives off is in an almost swarming pattern sometimes. Especially when he dose a shift into what he calls his “other way of thinking.” So while he might not be an insect theiran, his experiences does seem to go along with the idea that an entire hive reincarnated into a human body. Out there, I know. But it was a fun thing to discuss with him and Heru.

I suppose insect kin would DEFINITELY be possible. I mean if it possible to be angel/demon/Fae kin, why not bee/ant/praying mantis kin? I wonder how people would go about finding this out though, since remembering their existance as an ant would be complicated. Maybe it would be just based on their ways, etc?

*...sigh.* Here we go again.

Reincarnation is not the only possible cause for otherkin. Nor is it the cause for all otherkin.

I'm otherkin, and I don't believe I was ever physically anything other than human. I know otherkin (usually therians) who don't even believe in reincarnation.

I feel like I ought to make a monthly public service announcement or something with this tidbit. There's this terribly annoying assumption in the otherkin community that eeeeveryone who is otherkin is such because of a past life as something else, and it's just not the case.

I agree with Meirya and I'm also one of those that, while I'm still not sure how I feel about reincarnation, isn't how I became a therian. Perhaps you could post your article on the various reasons for being Otherkin birdy? I didn't see it in the articles section here and it's a really great read!

I know it isn't, I know there are several possible reasons, etc.. This is why I mentioned the "based on their ways" thing, which I probably didn't word too well at the time. My thought was pertaining to the otherkin caused by reincarnation.

Re: Insect Therians
BetaSwimmer on Werelist mentioned Earwig during our meet-up. I think I remember here when I lurked on the werelist years ago.

If there is cappuchin(or squrille) monkey therian running around. I think bug therians are out there too
A spider-kin would be niffy
