Inner Age
While this could be brought up as an intellectual topic (probably), I just didn't see it that way. Thus, the Off-Topic area. So, if you would so kindly, I'd like to see how the "actual age" of kin compares to their "inner age" (not really expecting major differences between kin and humans, btw. We're all people after all).

For me, my actual age is 17, while my inner age is somewhere around 30. I've never been comfortable around my "peers", but I do just fine in more adult settings, which is how I reached my approximation.

Re: Inner Age
I can't answer that because I'm not sure what "inner age" even means.

Also, there are some fundamental differences between almost every 17 year old (no matter how mature) and almost every 30 year old. The most obvious is that at 30 you generally have to actually work, and if you don't work you flat out don't eat. Many 17 year olds are responsible and conscientious, but few actually *have* to be . . . that does make a difference. On a more subtle level, as far as I recall the brain doesn't fully develop until 25 or so (which is one reason why very few romantic relationships started pre-25 last for long post-25).

Taking it a bit further, hormones, health and suchlike mean the experience of being 60+ is very different to being a 30 year old; no amount of inner maturity will reflect what it feels like to be elderly, and ill, and tired, and be able to vividly remember what it was like to be young, and healthy, and energetic.

I guess for me, without further clarification, "inner age" isn't a term that makes a whole lot of sense or gives a whole lot of use.

I'm physically 20 but feel more like, well, 20-36 depending. 20 when I'm in my I WANT TO WANDER DAMNIT mood, and up ato 36 when I have my life all planned/thought out

What does it actually *mean*, though, to "feel like 36"?

Re: Inner Age
well i'm 26. but are you meaning inner age as in Old Soul? cause frankly i act, talk, and feel older then what i am, and when i was younger i looked older, now i look younger don't know how that worked out. i'm well aware that i have an old soul, as to how old that's up for speculation.

Re: Inner Age
I'm with archer on this one, what is inner age, how is that supposed to work?

Yes, I've often been of the persuasion that people of my own age are childish, sometimes to the point of infantile, and felt more at ease in the company of my elders, but that doesn't change my age.
Something I'd rather discuss is the idea of soul-age and the things connected to that. When people talk about having existed since the beginning of existence and sometimes before that but still show no intellectual maturity beyond the common 5 year old. Things like that.

Re: Inner Age
I think what Deros was trying to get at is, what's your physical age versus how old you sometimes feel. I would guess that how old he feels would change depending on how he thinks and views the world, etc. but he's have to elaborate on that. And it was more of a 'just for fun/what if' thing. Nothing to scrutinize over. <!-- sWink --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- sWink -->

Me, I'm physically 26 and how old I feel is really based on the situation. At work, I feel younger because I'm inexperienced and I really am younger than the people I work with. At home I feel like I'm in my mid-20's. When I'm with my friends I feel like I'm 18 again. When I visit online forums, lately, I've been feeling as if I'm much older.

Is that more along the lines of what you meant Deros?

Physically, I'm getting aches and pains that most people don't until they hit mid thirties or later. I'm going deaf and blind and I tend to not be absolutely addicted to anything on TV. I don't subscribe to the media and alcohol and drugs like the average person my age does. I'm fine on my own, mentally and emotionally, and if I could financially do so I'd have no problem living on my own, while most people my age probably would prefer a roommate for company.

I'm an observer. I don't know how to put it but I just don't FEEL 20.

Re: Inner Age
Elinox has got it. Sorry for not explaining it myself. I was a bit tripped up by this suddenly turning into an intellectual debate.

Re: Inner Age
When my back crashes I feel "old". My body's broken, I'm constantly tired, everything sucks (I'm REAL irretable when in massive amounts of pain so yes.. EVERYTHING sucks) etc.. etc.. etc..
but I don't stick a number on it.

When my hubby (Selcar The Awesome) smiles at me with those beautiful, absolutely sparkly, blue granite eyes, and gives me kisses, I feel young..
though no numbers are stuck on it..

The number, or actual age, to me, simply says "been around the sun X number of times" and nothing more, so assigning a numerical value to an emotion seems a little pointless to me.
