Hi! *shy wave*
Hello!
I'm Siobhan. I'm newly awakened and even though I know I'm a vampire (most likely a psi) I think I'm something else as well so I don't know fully what I may be.
I guess I should start with when I knew I was different from everyone else.
Sometime in my junior or senior year of high school I came to the realization that I hated conformity and I'd be happier if I was just myself. So it would have been around that time that I first became aware of my uniqueness. I finally graduated and got the hell out of high school in 2005.
From then until last November I was just passing through life. Then I started talking to a random girl on Facebook. One thing lead to another soon we were in a long distance relationship. It was my girlfriend who told me about Otherkin (she's a vampire-sex energy/succubus to be exact). After a while the topic of me be Otherkin came up. She could sense I was a vampire over the internet. In Febuary of this year I moved over 450 miles to live with her and her best friend (also Otherkin, an Earth Spirit).
Since moving I've been trying to figure myself out but have been having little luck.

other things that may or may not be relevant:
I'm a lesbian.
My mother was less then accepting my father was cool with it.
I'm about 5'4" (my height hasn't been measured for years)
I'm 22 and will be 23 April 4th.
My legal name isn't Siobhan Murphy but I plan to change it sometime in the near future.
I live in Maryland.
I'm one sixteenth (?) Irish but wish I was full Irish and want to live in Ireland some day.
My girlfriend says my soul is most likely over 200 years old.
I have a tendency to touch people I know, and often don't like strangers touching me.
I don't like strangers coming up to me and talking to me, but I'm less hesitant to go up to a random stranger and talk to them.
Sunlight hurts my eyes.
My nose can be really sensitive on occasion. Certain scents will catch my attention.
I am a REALLY bad liar.
I'm highly empathic. If someone is sad I will start crying, if someone's angry I get angry, if someone's happy I'm happy, and so on.
I'm currently agnostic but was raised United Methodist and have dabbled in Wicca.

That's about all I can think of right now. Though the fact that it's 1 am and I'm tired might have something to do with that.

Again hello,
Siobhan

By the way if anyone has advise or insight I'd be keen to hear it.

Welcome to OKP!

However, be very wary of people (even close friends/significant others) telling you what you are. They're just trying to help you, but each person perceives things differently so just because your girlfriend reads you as "vampire" doesn't mean you actually are. Take time to figure yourself out through research (check out our articles section!) and things like meditation because only you can know what you really are.

Re: Hi! *shy wave*
Welcome and I second 'hoku and El. Only you can figure yourself out. No one can tell you what you are, how old your soul is, etc. As for your laundry list of things that may or may not be relevant...they most likely aren't. If something can be explained by being human, it should be. Example: I love the water, but I'm not fish-kin nor am I water spirit-kin, etc.

A vampire is someone who *need* to take in external energy in order to sustain their physical health...so if you don't *need* to take in energy via blood or psi energy, you aren't a vampire. You may be vampiric...but vampiric =/= vampire.

Your girlfriend most likely means well, but basing your identity solely on what someone else tells you is a slippery slope and will do much more harm than good.

Welcome to the board!

Please don't take any questions or alternate explanations personally; they're meant to help us understand and you come to well-supported conclusions about what you are, not to hassle or discredit.

As far as vampirism goes, whether you're a vampire or vampiric, I recommend the Foundations book here: http://www.kherete.org/downloads.php - it talks a bit about how to determine which you are, energy work from a vampiric perspective, etc.

Re: Hi! *shy wave*
Thank you all for your advise and greetings.
Most of you mentioned not to take my girlfriend's word as to whether or not I am a vampire. I understand that and the one Otherkin book I'm reading mentions that. Plus it's common sense. But somehow, I can't really describe how, I feel that I am. I'm just super frustrated because I'm not fully awakened yet. It's also possible that some of my confusion could be because I'm also something else as well. I have been doing a lot of research the past few months and I will research one thing, discard it as a possibility, then a week later will go back over it. One of the things I've keep coming back to though is Elemental Spirits, Fire Spirits to be exact. Though I could obviously be mistaken. *shrugs*
That reminds me, anyone know where I can find more information on Fire Spirits?

Re: Hi! *shy wave*
Why such a big interest in Ireland? (Not being critical - I spent many years wanting to cross the Atlantic in the other direction.)

A couple of otherkin related questions for ya . . .

Why do you think you might be otherkin? (Aside from vampirism issues, that is.) You say you think you might be "something" but you aren't sure what, but I don't think you said why you beileve you're anything other than human.

You've mentioned Earth spirits and fire spirits. What's an Earth spirit? Re fire spirits, if I was to use the term myself I know what I'd mean by it, but what do you mean when you say it?

Re: Hi! *shy wave*
I'm not sure why I'm so... I guess obsessed... or focused... on Ireland. That's one of the many things about myself I don't completely understand. I can't remember when it started either but I think it was sudden. Maybe in the sense that I longed to be somewhere my whole live and then after some point that place resolved itself to be Ireland. (if that makes any sense at all)

It's weird... you ask how I know/believe I'm other than human... and for some reason the answer is eluding me. (I hope it's just one of those moments where my brain just doesn't want to cooperate with me and some time in the near future I'll be like "Oh DUH! Why couldn't I think of that?" which unfortunate for me happens all the time. :/ )

And by Elemental Spirits I mean like Drakes, Salamanders and/ or Fire Lizards for Fire Spirits or Kelpie, Undines, Merfolk, and/or Selkie for Water Spirits.

Re: Hi! *shy wave*
Salamanders, in actuality, have little to do with fire. They just happen to like hanging around in ashes.

Re: Hi! *shy wave*
Ah. For some reason they keep coming up in the Fire Spirit "category" in the research I have done. Then again I haven't had much luck in my search for some kinds of Kin. I just don't know where to look.
