Hello :))
Hello ) / Just think of me as Ava, who's lurked quietly about Otherkin boards of all kinds for half a decade or so now. I'm 30, and consider myself pretty boring; I've a pet dog and a cat, Cisco ( a female lol ) and Tallie ( a pretty calico ), I used to have a single fish at a time, solitary species, until it became too painful when they passed on. / I've not seen the ocean in nearly 10 years and it cuts at my heart like losing a friend. / I believe I am mer, de la mer, of the sea; a mermaid ( yep ) in human clothing you could say. / Since I remember "being", I've known this, long before I heard the word "otherkin". / It's like asking, how do you know you're alive? I simply know. How do I know I am mer? I simply know. / I could tell anecdotes my mind turns into evidence, but the strongest evidence is, I simply know. / I miss the ocean. Freshwater is not the same. Chlorinated, city water holds but a minute bit of the life contained in one drop of salty ocean water, and it is very sad we now live so far from nature that we experience only a very tiny bit of the enormity of life that we were meant to experience. / / It is nice to meet you all!

Welcome I'm gonna ask that you stick to periods and drop the / after each one. It makes your post kinda hard to read and it might confuse the heck out of our non-english speakers.

Re: Hello :))
Welcome to OKP!

I have a very strong connection to the sea as well. Dates back to my childhood too.

Have you ever felt phantom limbs of fins or a tail?

Shows you how tired I was when I wrote that. The / was supposed to be a paragraph break. >_< Sorry!

Thank you for the welcome!

Always felt a tail. Not fins - can't feel those. But I can feel if there were a tail it would be...humm, similar to a dolphin's tail in orientation: tail fins for propulsion perpendicular to my torso, rather than parallel like, say, a betta fish. Feels especially strong if I am lying or sitting down. But the way my legs and ankles bend feels rather foreign. I've always hated looking at my feet and legs. That doesn't mean anything necessarily *laughs* but I remember crying as a child, over how strange I felt. When I sit cross-legged I feel just plain weird.

Falling asleep at night, I love the feeling of my legs resting atop each other in a normal, extended position; it's about the only time my legs aren't in pain, and I feel natural. *laughs* I usually swim kicking both legs together behind me at the same time -- I don't realize until I've been swimming a while that "ugh, I'm doing it again". Probably no one has ever noticed, and at least I don't sink!

Re: Hello :))
Please ignore my use of the words parallel and perpendicular in my prior post. Gods, I cant think today LOL. Just go with the visual of fins being like those of a dolphin, k? *laughs* I think I need some sleep. <3
