Hi,

I have no name, just call me RDrac/RD/Dragon/whatever. (I'm not a dragon anymore than a kid named Hunter is automatically a hunter, it's just a name. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->) I'm part of a multiple system, a gateway, with 3 main fronters. I'm stuck in front so spend most of my time in control. Glenn and Layzar are the other two who hang around, if they end up posting please ignore Layzar- he can be a bit... weird. I think he gets off on annoying people. (I try not to let him deal with people that might get us in trouble for that :/)

I'm not sure if I'm properly otherkin because internally my body is that creature, and that's more my body than this is, even though I'm stuck so this is the only body I've ever known. Sorry, I'm confused myself. Anyways, the species I am internally is one native to the other world (gateway system) that I call "Ri'en". It's got a humanoid torso, furred from the waist down with a tail, clawed feet, and walks on the balls of its feet. I can give more info on that if you're interested, but I don't want to make this a giant essay. ^^;

About Ri'en (an overly long guide)
As a disclaimr- I'm stuck in front so thsi is all gathered from people who show up. If Lark were around she could probably give a much better description. Appearance:

Ri'en have a humanoid torso. The most notable differences from the torso and that of a human's being pointed ears and extremely long, stronger nails. The nails aren' actually useful as claws, they're more a mark of skill. Most are hunters that typically use their own claws and teeth rather than weapons, so being able to hunt and maintain nails that long is apparently a hard task. Actually, over time they've gotten thick eough that they might as well be claws- but the overall social views remained.

Their lower body is covered in fur, with a somewhat lion-ish tail. Lion-ish in that there's a tuft of hair at the end the same color as the hair on their head. As hunters they focus more on swiftness and strength in numbers than physical strength, and as such are flexible, agile, and somewhat light-boned but not the strongest things in the world. Because they probalby wouldn't do very well at all as solo hunters they tend to stay in groups.

Beliefs:

Not too much to say on this, other than that they seem to consider themselves "protectors" to a certain degree. They won't kill anything smaller than about the size of your average dog and see harming a plant when not needed as being a great sin. They forgive herbivores for this, and animals that don't know any better. This is likely a great source of annoyance with humans, who eat plants but have the ability to eat meat.

They have a sense of being the highest on the food chain, and thus being the best. I'm not entirely sure if this persists seriously, or if they live peacfeully with any other sentient beings in the world.

I don't particularly have this problem from being raised human, but Lark (headmate of the same species) is positively horrified by the idea of "vegetarians".

Mating:

This shouldn't be TMI. Ri'en don't have the view of romance we do. Generally hte person you mate with is one you think would be a good parent or has good genes. You decide who will raise the children, how big a part the other partner will have in thier lives, then stay together until the kids are born. Typically the parent who doesn't care for the kids still has a pretty large hand in raising them, it's rare for a parent to completely be a stranger to their children- and as such it's common for close friends to mate rather than strangers, but strangers isn't unheard of.

"dating" is what takes place between people who want to mate and are trying to decide if their partner is a good candidate. It's much less common between frineds, as they generally know already.

On a rare occasion two Ri'en will fall in love and want to stay together for ever. When this happens, instead of marrying they become "life mates", and remain completely faithful. This is rather uncommon because they seem to be a very aromantic race.

I have no idea how Ri'en view poly. They probably aren't big on non-heterosexuality because, to them, sex and those relationships are primarily to have children. Same-sex life mates might not be viewed as badly, though, since it's uncommon no matter what sexuality you are.

Glenn has always been there. I've always htought she might be separate, she typed through me every now and then. We'd roleplay together and stuff like that, but I thought it was just me roleplaying as someone else (I'm nowhere near good enough for that to be the case, but, hey self-delusions <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->). Then while looking into gender stuff I came across the term multiple and realized it fit.

Every now and then someone other than me and Glenn would say something, even before realizing it. It was a bit weird but I never thought much because it'd be a short addition to a conversation, and easily brushed aside. But after I was willing to accept it, Layzar got stuck here (he forgot how to leave and it took a month for someone to stay long enough to show him) and I thought that he was the one who'd been doing all that, but it happened again. Only now I guess they felt safe enough to stay long enough to introduce themselves.

I came up with something similar before realizing we were multiple. Sometimes I'll come up with races, but I'm not very good at fleshing them out well- but Ri'ens were almost completely formed very quickly. There were a lot of fantasizing involved, so they aren't actually the same race as I am, but a much more romanticized version (longer tails, unnatural hair colors, near-impossible abilities, raptor claws, etc)- but I still felt like there was something about them that was very much close to home.

So, I thought that might be what I was but had no proof and didn't really say it was for sure. Tourmaline, another headmate who's also Ri'en, is the one who really "proved" I am. She found it to be the funniest thing that I thought I might not be Ri'en- she's also a big reason that I think we're a gateway. The others agree with it, it's not like only one person's said it, and before her people hinted at it, but she's the first to say for sure that's the case.

Like I think I've said, we're a gateway. 3 people who stay in front most often (2 who never leave, one who rarely leaves), a handful that come and go, a much larger handful that's only showed up once- not even long enough to give a name, and who knows how many who I've never met. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->
