Hello. ^^
Hi. I'm Celliz. I don't know what I am, so I just wrote 'human' as my kintype when registering. I'm still awakening, and haven't worked it out yet. I speak German as a second language, and am almost seventeen. I'm in year twelve at high school. I have grapheme → color synaesthesia.

Looking forward to seeing what this forum's like.

Celliz.

Welcome You could always put "unknown" for your kintype if you're sure you're 'kin...which brings me to the question of: so what makes you think you're otherkin at all?

Hi, Seraphyna. Oh, unknown. That would be the obvious option. Anyway, I recognize you from another website - Didn't you ask me that same question over there? :3 Phantom limbs, mental shifts, species dysphoria, a gut feeling, and ... I don't know how much credit people want to put in past-life regression.

Howdy C! *waves*

What is it about yourself that makes you think you might be other? And everyone's beliefs are different; some people put stock in past lives, others do not. So it's really all up to you.

Tell us more about why you think you might be 'kin, and maybe what type you're leaning towards?

Yeah I did, but not everyone here knows you from TFW (I think it's TFW) so I asked again Most people put kintype: unsure or unknown or some variation.

Then why do you think you're otherkin? If you don't know what you are, why do you not just believe you're human?

What phantom limbs? What do you mean by "mental shifts" and "species dysphoria"? Can you describe your gut feeling at all?

Hi Celliz!

Nice to see you over here too....and yes the questions do get repetitive, don't they?

Re: Hello. ^^
Oh jeez. Questions make me flustered. Please just keep in mind how new I am to all of this, so I'm probably going to flub a lot of what I say, and it's all going to be incredibly uninsightful and inconclusive.

Hmm. ^_^; Do you mean that you'd like an elaboration on what I said in response to Seraphyna's question? If not, I'm not going to answer this right ...

Well, the most obvious phantom limbs that I feel are phantom wings. I feel them probably eighty to ninety per cent of the time. They're in proportion to my body, so they're fairly large, given the average height of a human. I begin feeling where they join to my back up in my shoulder blades, and from there I feel them down to my lower back. The 'joint', I guess it's called (I'm not all that savvy on wing anatomy - What I mean is where it feels like the wings are joined to my flesh), runs down my back diagonally, so that the wings are like "\ /" on my back.

I also feel something like feathers or a frond-like substance, kind of like a little mohawk, on my head. Rather, I feel phantom weight from it, and I feel that funny feelings when hair on your head moves and you feel it against your scalp. My feet also very, very occasionally feel clawed, but it's rare that I'll feel a phantom alteration to my feet.

Humm. During mental shifts, I feel as if I have a very sentry-like mindset. I feel as if I want to watch, and possibly stand guard (over my own possessions). It's a sort of watching-and-hunting frame of mind. I can't explain it more than that, because I just don't know how to yet. Because of my mental shifts and phantom limbs, I just feel like I'm (non-physically) something other than human. That's as far as my gut feeling is, I just really, truly feel that way about it.

Have I answered your question correctly?

Edit: Oh, whoops. I forgot to answer the last bit! I'm leaning towards therianthropy.

Archer Wrote:Then why do you think you're otherkin? If you don't know what you are, why do you not just believe you're human?

I am human, heh. I didn't realize that some people would expect me to know exactly what I am before I can start to call myself Otherkin...

Oops. Silly me. It means that I'm in my final year of secondary education.

Quote:What phantom limbs? What do you mean by "mental shifts" and "species dysphoria"? Can you describe your gut feeling at all?

Some of that is answered above. As for species dysphoria, I just feel uncomfortable in human skin and human society. I know it's not something that can really be used to point one toward being Other, but it's the little things that accumulate.

Yes, thank you!

*nods* I agree that what you've described sounds therian in nature. Have you looked into birds as a possible theriotype? (Just keep in mind that no one can tell you what you are.)

Nah, Archer just likes asking questions that, heh, ruffle people's feathers. Don't take it personally. And discovering this about yourself can take years to have answers to so don't sweat it.

Celliz Wrote:As for species dysphoria, I just feel uncomfortable in human skin and human society. I know it's not something that can really be used to point one toward being Other, but it's the little things that accumulate.

Species dysphoria is similar to gender dysphoria; you don't feel right in a human suit. As a therian, I sometimes get this feeling as well and it can be very frustrating.

Thanks for answering! And don't worry if you don't know what you are right away. Take your time and try to learn as much as you can before picking up a label.

More detailed reply to follow - probably worth noting, though, that bird wings do not connect to the shoulders as described. Bird wings are more equivalent to arms, and as such it strikes me that wings felt as the result of being a bird therian are more likely to be felt as arm extensions, than as the stereotypical idea of angel wings.
