Greetings
Hello all, I'm StarHowl; Arctic Wolf Therian and Empath. I came from Otherkin Community... I'm not too active there, but I thought I might as well mention that. Anyway, I guess I'll start off with a little about myself.

My three favourite pastimes are writing, drawing and playing the violin. Writing is by far my most masterful of the three, and I plan on making it a career as a novelist. I love nature, and spend as much free time as I can outside. I am also interested in shamanism. I suppose the easiest way to label myself for those interested is hedge witch. *shrug* My teacher is an ancestral spirit, if anyone was wondering, along with my many guides.

Carrying onto my personal Therianthropy... I awakened at a particularly young age - nine, in fact, when running on all fours and howling at recess was still socially acceptable. Of course, back then, I had no idea of the terms such as "Therian" and "Shift", and I called it by different names. My best friend was actually the one who triggered my awakening. She is a Therian herself and seeing her behave as such resonated with my inner beast, calling it out. We invented terms for the things we felt and experienced, and kept to ourselves in terms of publicity. When we were thirteen we stumbled upon the Therian community, and felt relieved and awe-stuck as we saw that there were so many others who shared our experiences and feelings - even more so after seeing all of them defined so accurately (Phantom Shift, for example, we called it Aura Fur).

My Therianthropy is something very real to me that I love and feel comfortable invoking about myself in regular activities. I used to have to trigger my phantom limbs... but after a lengthy healing session of aligning vibrations, they are now "on" all the time. Though I don't notice them all the time, they're there, just like I don't notice my nose a lot but I know it's there. If I concentrate on say, my tail, I'll feel it much more clearly.

As you can probably tell, I experience Phantom Shifts the most. I also experience Mental, Astral (when journeying/projecting) and rarely, Dream Shifts - though in my dreams if I am Dream Shifting I don't take the form of a full Arctic Wolf, just myself but with the hazy Phantom Limbs around.

I had no idea there were so many wolf Therians when I first stumbled upon the community. Being an Arctic Wolf... it just feels right on so many levels, and it brings me a lot of comfort and happiness. And well, when I saw just how popular my Theriotype is... I felt... so general. I can't really help how many people identify spiritually with wolves, and it's actually quite interesting to talk and consult with them, but nevertheless, I am a wolf and the numbers won't change that. ^_^ (I say this because I've met some wolf Therians who feel very at home as one, but hesitate as identifying as one because it seems so general.) I have a lot of theories as to why this is... but that's for another time.

I do a lot of energy work, especially with healing. The way I would describe my healing energy is like adult stem cells. They can form into other cells within the body. My energy first needs the consent of the subject, and then an understanding of the source problem before it can remove it (with the help of a totem) and begin healing, replacing what was lost gently and gradually. I also do shielding and basic energy manipulation.

Anyway, I guess that's enough about me... I realize this is quite a lot but I thought it would be appropriate. So, hello again, *howls* and I hope to get along well here. Feel free to ask any questions, I'd be happy to answer. ^_^

Welcome to OKP!

And yes, there are a lot of wolves within the therian community. However, I've found that it really doesn't matter what someone identifies as so long as they appear to have done their homework. <!-- sWink --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- sWink -->

Glad to meet another wolf! *howls back*
