Funky, very long dream
My mistake in this was not recording the dream until about 45 minutes after I woke up - combined with the hours (about 3) it took to write it out, by the time I was done I'd forgotten most of the cool stuff. Damn! Still, I thought you might be entertained. I was most impressed by my psyche's use of recurrant flashback scenes, heh heh:

I see a scene in black and white. It seems to be part of a movie, but at the same time I am there watching it.

It's a “killing field” - soldiers are in the foreground, aiming their weapons at hundreds of people in a field in front of them. They open fire; all the civilians die.

My field of view pans out. I am in the living room of my RL house, watching a war movie with various members of my family. It is based on real events, and there has been recent political outrage about the incident, even though it took place years ago. The soldiers, I learn, were American and the victims were somewhere in Asia. The government's outrage seems only partially to be about the actual murders – rather, they are more concerned with some kind of ceremonial insult.

The “insult”, it turns out, was that before opening fire on the civilians, these soldiers reached down and touched symbols on the outside ankle of their boots. The symbol is a white five pointed star inside a red circle. We pause the movie, because none of us know why this is offensive. We ask each other what the meaning of this star/circle symbol is.

My RL brother #3 gets an encyclopaedia to check. He searches through it and the only reference he can find is in an article about the rules of ice hockey – it seems the encyclopaedia has been vandalised. In the middle of the section that explains a kicked-in puck does not constitute a goal, there is a note that this symbol – star inside circle – is used to denote that the wearer, or his ancestors, was involved in killing a king.

This explained, I want to continue watching the movie but some kind of trivial argument develops with brother #3. Within minutes it is a full blown family row and he is screaming his lungs out. A car arrives in the driveway – I don't recognise it, its driver, or the passenger. My aunt realises this is an “appointment” for brother #3 and we hope this will calm him down.

By the time I go outside, the car has gone but another one has arrived. My brother #1's young son gets out. Brother #3 is with me and continuing to scream. I angrily tell him that whatever his problem with me, screaming now serves to do nothing other than upset our nephew. He stops, and we all go inside.

Inside, I return from the kitchen at the back of the house. My brothers and nephew are nowhere to be seen, but the rest of my family have visitors in the front room. I don't recognise them. They are in suits and rather Men in Black-ish, but smiling and appearing non-threatening.

I don't want to go into the front room immediately because on the wall outside I see a large insect. It is easily over 6 inches long and looks like some kind of stick insect. It is very beautiful, but not liking insects I don't want to go past. I mention this to the people inside the front room. My mother comes out and happily removes it herself – something that in real life she would not do.

Everything fades; this is the last time I see anything from my RL point of view. From now on I play one or more characters.

I am in the killing field. Everything is now in colour. From the uniforms, it seems to be twenty or thirty years after the initial video. I am an adult male soldier. The mass grave has been opened up, and I am utterly horrified by what is going on.

The dream continues. Now I am a young lawyer, and female again. My boss works for the government and is quietly investigating some fiscal discrepancies involving some big businessmen. He doesn't have any specific suspicions, just that something is going on.

Working for him, I uncover or witness various pieces of evidence of corruption – these businessmen aren't paying taxes properly, seem to be involved in human rights abuses at “home” (in the USA) and abroad, and seem to have law enforcement on their side.

Until this point, everything we uncover seems normal. Then, I am driving along a country road with my boss – which seems to be in Scotland – when we slam on the brakes and get out of the car. He has seen, in a garden that opens onto the road, a live baby crocodile. We go to have a look.

It's a couple of feet long, and held in some kind of framework with grey cords tied to its legs, tail, and mouth. Some of the cords seem to go into its back and out its belly. It is squirming and wriggling and seems to be in pain. We ask the woman what's going on, and she says the crocodile was left as a present for her a few weeks ago, and she has it tied up because there's nowhere else to put it.

Myself and my boss are pretty horrified, but she seems to think it's absolutely normal – both that she has this crocodile, and the way it's tied up. It reminds me of the large insect at home. I advise her to take it to a zoo where it can be properly cared for, and we leave.

At the end of our trip is a large baseball stadium. It is major league size – but one side is open (so anyone with a house in that direction could easily see in), and through the open side have come many large black vehicles. Some are SUVs with tinted windows, some are large trucks. It all seems very Men in Black-ish again.

I ask my boss if it is only half built, but before he can respond the man running the project comes over to speak to us.

He is about 60 years old, good looking and charismatic, very intelligent, but arrogant and self-consciously charming. Apparently this is the main businessman my boss and I are investigating.

On a hunch, I ask the man if he was ever in the army. He smiles and says yes. I ask about the significance of the star/circle symbol and he gives the same explanation as before – that it is worn by people who killed a king. I then ask why US generals have five pointed stars on their helmets (in RL I have no idea what US military insignia looks like, but it made sense in the dream!) and he says its because of the history of the position. I say that the USA broke away from Britain, but it didn't actually kill any kings.

The man smiles at me and says, “Oh, all of us killed a king at some point”, excuses himself, and leaves.

Myself and my boss do a little snooping around and in the offices of the stadium discover evidence of “a secret cabal of high-ranking Jewish-American servicemen” (!) - the guy we'd been investigating seems to be their leader. All of them had been high ranking officers in the USA armed forces, but we didn't know what their goals were.

The dream changes again, and I am back in the killing field. It is black and white. I am a soldier again, and I open fire on the civilians.

In the final main chapter of the dream, everything becomes a bit more surreal. Many scenes are repeated from earlier on, with subtle differences.

I meet the woman with the crocodile again. Instead of being by a country road, her house is in the town. I advise her to take the crocodile to a zoo, but get worried that it might be mistreated and suggest the one in Dundee, which I say I have been too and is very good (in reality, I don't think there is a zoo in Dundee and I've never been there anyway). She says she's thinking of a zoo in Cork. This continues for some time, me suggesting local places in Scotland her suggesting ones in the Republic of Ireland. Eventually I realise that in her world, Northern Ireland is an island, and the Republic of Ireland is on mainland Great Britain, south of England. Realising that I don't know anything about her world, I walk away.

Walking through town, I meet an elderly woman who tells me she is working on uncovering the cabal and their conspiracy. I ask her what she can do and she says the trick is distracting attention long enough to see what's really happening. I don't understand what she means. Suddenly she yells at the top of her lungs, in a busy street, “HELP! MY PERIOD STARTED AND I DON'T HAVE ANY TAMPONS! I'M COVERED IN BLOOD!” Everyone freezes and is shocked and embarrassed – myself included. As everyone stares at her, she starts to shrink.

For some reason no-one but me notices this. It seems the people are so highly aware of what she said, that they can't perceive anything else about the situation. I am outside of it all, looking in.

I look into a shop window. It is empty, and I can see reflections in the window of many people who are not in the street behind me. The woman – who is now about 6 inches tall – tells me that now I can see beyond the surface of the world, beyond what the cabal want us to see, and into the reality – which his magical and strange.

I go back to a dingy apartment with her, and start looking through newspapers. I see a story that the Cigarette Smoking Man (of X-Files fame) has died, and I remember seeing him in a photo of the cabal leader and his old army buddies (back at his office in the baseball stadium). I remember thinking that the CSM is always involved in conspiracies.

Later on, I am able to infiltrate one of the cabal leader's dodgy businesses. He runs some kind of brothel for the rich and famous. Not only do the prostitutes who work for him get paid a lot of money, but they are also actively encouraged to steal things from the clients. Documents and information go to the cabal leader, but cash is kept.

I had been doing this for some time, when I am called into the leader's office. He has a complaint from one of the clients, who says that a large sum of money was stolen from him. I think about how to react, then say, “Yes, I stole your money. I was ordered to by him, and I took it under his direction.” The man is outraged and storms off, but the cabal leader is so impressed at my willingness to turn on him that he admits me into the cabal.

We discuss the conspiracy and its goals in great detail . . . but unfortunately it's hours since I woke up and I don't remember any of it any more. There was some kind of supernatural evil going on that only the cabal knew about. By the end of the conversation I have become aware of a lot of very evil things the cabal has done, but also that they seem to be fighting some kind of greater supernatural evil. At the least, I know they have tortured and disappeared people, and even started entire wars.

Later on, I am in the brothel waiting for a client, when my senior in the group trying to out the cabal arrives. I ask him how they possibly get away with what they do. He says that they have a policy of always acting in their own best interests – but they make sure that the world's best interests are almost always the same as their own, so no-one even wants to stop them.

After he leaves, a client arrives. Before we do anything, I try to get him to leave (so I can go through his papers) by saying there's a large insect in the basement that I want him to remove. He doesn't believe me, and asks for details of it. I panic a bit and use the ability to see what's really there (as taught to me by the elderly woman) to look into the basement. I tell him I can see a red flower, but it's not a flower, it's more like a small, bright light hovering above the ground. He gets very angry and is frightened. While we argue, I see a bright orange light come in through the window, pulse in front of us, and vanish. I immediately think this is either something supernatural and dangerous, or my brain injury is making me see things. I ask him if he saw the light too, and he reluctantly admits he did.

As the dream ends, I return to the killing field and see it for the fourth and final time. The field is still in black and white and I am still a soldier – it is now clear I am the commanding officer. I order bodies thrown into the grave. I see one person in the grave, dirty and covered in blood and wearing nothing but rags; it is impossible to tell if this person is male or female, young or old. I do not shoot this person, though I consider it. Instead, I order the mass grave filled in – entombing the dead and burying alive those who are still living. It is now obvious just why this war crime horrified so many people. It is also obvious why it initially failed to bother me. I was the leader of the war criminals and so was not upset to see so many innocent people murdered . . . I only became disturbed when, years later, the crimes are discovered.

I wake – my first thought is that I do not know if the officer who ordered the mass executions was “me”, or the leader of the cabal.

The fact that the cabal's "leader" was played by an occassional Law & Order defence attorney, my boss was played by the senior prosecutor from Law & Order: UK, and the CSM's offscreen appearance . . . I put down to my watching too much TV The secret cabal of Jews, of course, is clearly borrowed from The Daily Show

Your ability to remember such specific details of this dream is amazing! It sounds like it was interesting to watch, and at the same time, experience (although not necessarily pleasant).

Even though I'm not an X-Files fan, I do know who the CSM is. And yes, it does.

I don't recall ever being active as the fake-prostitute so it was all fairly pleasant, lol

I'm actually rather annoyed I forgot so many details, particularly towards the end. That's a fairly normal night of dreaming for me - and the sheer amount I remember is the reason why I only note down dreams if they're particularly interesting. In this case, I thought the four views of the "killing field" scene were pretty damn cool.

I meant unpleasant to experience murdering seemingly innocent people.

And yes, the ways the killing field was viewed was cool. I tend to remember my dreams in flashes, and usually only very brief parts. Specific details usually fail me!

Black hair, sorry! (Was "played" by a guy who occassionally turned up as a defence attorney in Law & Order before, I think, Jack McCoy sent his ass to jail.)
