Fae and Food Choices
Here's another topic inspired by my friends and family who are fae.

I don't know if anyone else has heard this (though you probably have since I have a feeling most people here are more educated in the ways of fae than I am), but one thing I've read about fae is that they have a fondness for sweet, sugary foods. In fact that's one of the first things I read when it comes to fae was about baking sugar cookies for them, then leaving a circle of crumbs outside to attract them and they'll come in to eat the sweet treat.

Two of the three fae I know in real life, my sister and her friend, absolutely love sugary foods. My sister brings candy to work with her and eats it throughout the day, and often takes bowls of cookies and cake, pouring milk over it and eating it like cereal for breakfast. Her friend is almost addicted to sugar cookies, and has to have them every morning and every night. My sister once joked about this, saying that "he takes his cookies everyday like they're medicine."

So I was wondering if this is a common thing for fae, that they have a love of sweets and enjoy eating sweet, sugary foods.

Re: Fae and Food Choices
I've never heard about Fae food preferences, but this would seem to make sense to me. At least for smaller types like faeries and pixies, but it's just conjecture on my part.

Re: Fae and Food Choices
My fondness for sweets has fallen off over time. When I was ~20s I would eat a lot more sweet foods or even straight sugar than I would now. In my late 30s my perception of sweetness has become fairly acute, that is, it doesn't take much for a dessert or something to seem "too sweet" to me, but that's pretty much pinned to refined cane sugar and/or, especially, corn syrup (HFCS-sweetened sodas taste very odd to me nowadays); I will still happily eat spoonfuls of honey nom nom nom or maple syrup.

That said, I think the general idea holds: fae like sweet things.

Re: Fae and Food Choices
I agree with Arethinn on that one, some sugary things are just too much and I'd say, probably because of being in a human body, that I definitely have a 'saturation point' with sweet stuff in a given day, but honey and maple syrup are endlessly good.
