Electromagnetic Interference
It has been noted in the paranormal field that electro-magnetic fields can affect spiritual activity. Additionally, it has been noted since ancient times that spiritual activity seems to be more frequent at night. Varkadevi has noticed this also, as lights and electrical appliances(while active) seem to hinder hir energy work to a great extent, and energy work of most sorts are nearly impossible during daylight hours. Additionally, this also seems to affect whether or not apparitions will be visible. Which seems to lend some evidence to the fact that these are indeed apparitions are in fact spirits and not hallucinations....as such hallucinations/creepy feelings are typically DUE to high electromagnetic fields.

Thoughts, Anyone?

As much as I dislike Konstantinos, he mentioned something that might be somewhat accurate to this observation: There's less psychic interference at night because humans generally sleep at night.

Not exactly proven, but it makes sense at least.

Perhaps that is true..interesting hypothesis, WhiteFox. Gratitude for mentioning it.

Re: Electromagnetic Interference
I'm not so certain. Electrical appliances seem to have very little, if any, effect on my own ability to use my energy, and if I have a lot of spiritual activity in my house and I feel as if I'm in danger (which happens quite often), starting up the microwave doesn't help (all other appliances are typically off at this time, as well).

Re: Electromagnetic Interference
IMO if more psychic experiences happen at night that's just because night is naturally alien to humans. This means that a) false positives on pattern spotting are more likely, and b) the observer is already primed for "strangeness".

Regarding electromagnetic interference, I don't see any reason to think that it would have any effect on "spirits", and I am not aware of any credible evidence whatsoever that it does. In other words, I'm open on it - don't have any reason to believe it has an effect, but hey, it might do.

Re: Electromagnetic Interference
I have heard people say that spirits don't like electromagnetic fields. Maybe the question to ask would be 'which spirits?' Maybe there are some that don't like it and others that aren't bothered by it. Kind of like how you get a bunch of pigeons in cities, but not so many song birds. Some are scared of the noise and don't like the unfamiliar habitat, and others are going 'Hey! Free food! You gonna eat those fries?'

And I'm sure one reason there is more spiritual activity at night is because humans naturally wind down at night. You're more likely to see stuff when you're relaxed and not running around. Do you see more spirits at night and in the country because there are more out there? Or is it because you're paying more attention because you're not running to work or school or the grocery store?

Re: Electromagnetic Interference
Mmm...

Also, realize just what night is. Humans are very sight-depended animals, and taking away from your main means of gathering information leaves you open and vulnerable. It could very well be that the only reason you "notice" spirits in the night is because your natural senses take precedent when you can't see correctly, and so those things that you can't see, that "weren't there", show up.

Of course, it could also simply be that certain active spirits / things prefer the night. I'm pretty sure that fear-eaters have much more ammunition when it's night simply because of the way night affects human beings. With this in mind, it's probably easier to see a fear-eater at night than in the day.

Re: Electromagnetic Interference
I'd like to say that I positively love electric fields. They are tasty and they're a great way to feed off of something throughout the day.
If there isn't a crowd around, I've already found that I'm full of energy around things such as powerlines and generators.
Oh mannn, and this magnetic-crane thing they used at this junkyard to lift up cars... <33

If anything, I'd say the reason *I* personally would ever feel weird when around high electromagnetic fields is because I get really hyped up when I'm full of energy. So I'm hyper. I start to notice every little detail about things rapidly. My hearing improves, not in the sense that I can hear a conversation a mile away, but that I'm more attentive to small sounds and stuff.

So if I were to be in an area where I have a pre-conceived notion that bad things or things detrimental to my well being could happen, then I'd already be a little paranoid. My brain's going a mile a minute anyway, so my mind's jumping to conclusions right and left. So every little cricket noise would make me jumpier than normal.

On the contrary, I'd be positively gleeful were I to be in an area I thought good things or things beneficial to my well being could happen. Every little cricket chirp would have me in a giggle-fit.

As for the night itself? I just like it because it's quieter, and you can be unseen in places you would normally be seen. It makes for a better time to pull off stuff you'd normally get caught at doing because people can't really see you doing it from afar and if you were to be caught, getting away in the dark is easier to do.

Doesn't mean that I don't get the heebie-jeebies when I'm somewhere I think I'll be in danger at, and not being able to make sense of certain silhouettes only adds to the paranoia at times. But if *I'm* that certain silhouette? It's awesome. <!-- s:happy_demon: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/happy_demon.gif" alt=":happy_demon:" title="happy demon" /><!-- s:happy_demon: -->

Re: Electromagnetic Interference
I'm right with Sim on this one. I love the night, and I love electronic fields (Best Buy is my happy place). The night is just so dark, and peaceful, and... it just has that degree of serenity that you can't get while the world around you is awake.
