Divination
So guys what type of divination do you use, if any? I mainly use runes and rune dice in a divination circle. I sometimes use tarot and dowsing. I tried scrying but I dont have the patience. So what do you use and how effective has it been for you. I have found runes to be accurate but tarot is often quite vague and inaccurate.

Re: Divination
I've been laying runes for a long time now, have my own pattern for it even.
They're never vague, but they tend to give you a sort of "Your future will bring you X, but what kind of X and what X means to you at the time, is not knowin." type of answers. They often come with caveats, warnings and such.
I love it.

I also lay the tarot, and have owned by oldest deck for 14 years.
I tend to go to it more for advice, but I've found it's answers are as accurate as the runes, in fact, all my tools are as accurate.

I also have a pendulum somewhere, that I rescued from the fate of "meet the rubbish bin".
It's ofc. only good for yes/no answers, but it's pretty and it's a misfit and it's mine.

Re: Divination
I've used tarot for years, but not until I acquired my Shadowscapes deck a few months ago was I any good at it. I also use a pendulum on occasion.

Re: Divination
I’m a fan of my decks of which I have three. I have my Wolf Pack Tarot deck (which is actually an oracle deck and not a true tarot deck) which is my oldest deck, my Animal’s Divine Tarot deck, and I have my totem deck. The latter is actually a deck I personally made myself and use it for finding totem animals to work with rather then actual divination.

I also use three stones - one which means yes, another no, and the final meaning N/A or neither. They shook and those and I judge what the answer is based off which stone landed closer to me and what order the other stones are in. This form actually seems to be the most actuate and specific form of divination I use.

I also sometimes do water scrying from within a black bowl, though not very often.

Re: Divination
My runes. I was given a lovely, simple, set of oak runes for a birthday and I love them.

I've used various other forms and methods over the years though from playing cards, pokemon cards, dice, tarot, a divination system I made myself, birds, I can't remember the term off the top of my head but looking into flames and i've probably forgotten a couple.

I adore my runes though.

I've never really got on with tarot, I was given a dragon deck (I don't get on so well with dragons, so not such a great choice!), I happened across a raven deck but didn't have the money at the time. When I finally had the money I couldn't find it again which was a shame, it was like my runes it really resonated with me. I've used playing cards in the past and had accurate results, the same can be said for the pokemon cards. I must admit, that's not something I make a habbit of but I was experimenting. I gave a couple of people some readings using them, to see if the tool was genuinely important. The readings I gave using them were just as accurate as those I gave with my runes. At the end of the day, they're just tools there to help us open up and focus. My view on the runes remains the same as in the other thread involving them, they are different and separate in my mind.

My pre-dominant form of divination is currently using birds actually. This is something I never planned I just happened to catch myself doing it, it's proven to be accurate thus far so I see no reason to change it.

I am everything, I am nothing, I am balance.

Re: Divination
moved to magic section.

as for divination, i like working with runes, even though i'm not good with nordic mythology, they're just the right thing for me and the interpretations just come to me without much thinking on my side. i guess that's what defines a (subjectively) good system. i always carry my set of runes with me, it's a small leather pouch with very normal, oval stones in it which have nail polish runes on them. the reason why i love this set so much is that i have spent several days finding the right stones, and the only permanent color i had at that time was my stepmother's nail polish. therefore it's a very personal set and i wouldn't trade it for the fanciest set in the world. <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

i have tried the tarot but it's a little confusing, so many cards and i can't seem to get a close connection to them. i guess a real tarot pro would kill me for this, but i like working with the major arcana without the minor. i'm also very picky about the pictures, but the deck i got second-hand is rather nice so i do use it once in a while.

the pendulum... i have a couple: one amethyst, one quartz, one brass... the amethyst one is the one i can work with best. i used to have another amethyst pendulum with a broken edge but it just never moved for me! a friend of mine tried it and it worked great for him so i gave it to him. for my taste, a yes/no answer is rather unsatisfying, and i always fear i could be influencing it with my thoughts, so i rarely work with it. i have been planning on practicing again though, in combination with stones (trying to find out what the stone in my hand is by asking the pendulum in the other hand), perhaps that will help me with my insecurity.

as for staring into flames / black mirrors / crystals / ..., i never managed to do that properly. when i close my eyes and let the images come, it's far more effective, but i dare not trust those things since they can be very unclear and misleading.

Re: Divination
I slowly pour my creamer into my coffee and see what the swirls tell me. So far it's just been, "tell the waitress to leave room for cream next time," but I'm going to keep experimenting.
