Discordant Harmony
I've been thinking that phrase a lot today. The more I think on it the more sense it makes to me.

Discordant Harmony. Two opposing forces becoming one. In a pop culture reference, think of it as team up between heroes and villains. In another example, combining fire and water, you'd think one or the other would be destroyed or that steam would result. A DH of fire and water would create a liquid flame that flows, not put out by water, not frozen by subzero temperatures.

In DH case of sentients, the memories of the two become joined, it can be confusing at first. The strengths of the two overshadow whatever weakness of the two. There is no distinction, no dominant personality, no taking turns. All at once this resultant being has aspects of both but is neither of the originators.

I was once asked a question, if it was like parents and a child. Only that instead of DNA, the child is made of memories.

Interesting idea.

I actually have to nod at that, simply because I'm tied to two gods: Set and Thoth. Set is the god of chaos, and Thoth is the god of writing. What does writing do but put things in order? ^_^ Considering one of my favourite phrases is 'Same difference,' I'm all for opposites balancing and becoming one.

Re: Discordant Harmony
I could talk about Deghrain of Jentelanon. I doubt anyone would recognize the names though. In explaining about how they joined might make someone think Kernad Kiesele is a multiple. He might even answer to either one. He might think of himself feeling stronger towards one or the other, but its always him. Kernad has the memories of the two up until the point they were fused seamlessly, from that point there was only him. Lost in a way, unsure of what really happened. Sometimes referring to himself as such, "We, I greet you," "We, I am lost." He has the unending compassion as shown by Jentelanon, the defiance of Deghrain. The loyalty of Jentelanon, the fierce prowess of Deghrain.

Sometimes I wonder about my own sanity. Am I angelic? Is my imagination just too high? Shouldn't I be locked up in the padded cell?

Re: Discordant Harmony
I typed out what you said about fire and water in a text message to my boyfriend.

You have provided me with EXACTLY what I needed to describe what I see when I look at his aura. Thank you.

It was just... really coincidental? Like, the other day I was trying to tell him that, and I couldn't think of the right words for it. Then, voila, this popped up. <3

The only way I can relate to this is that there is me, energy-being me, and me human-me. But the two are one. There's no split personality thing or shifting of persona, just an energy being looking through a human filter.

At the same time, I don't think I work like a DH. My weaknesses are still there. >.<

Re: Discordant Harmony
Think of the purged weaknesses this way. Angels are "light" weak against dark powers. Fallen angels are "dark" weak against light powers. As both, I have my own separate weaknesses.

Re: Discordant Harmony
I can kind of relate here.

I feel as if I'm composed of both a light side and a dark side, but the two are never completely separate and are together. All of my instincts, abilities, and urges can be classified into either the vampire side or the guardian side. Still, they come together and react together in any situation.

Weakness wise, I'm not so sure. I don't think any of the weaknesses, besides cravings, can be tied to a certain part of me. Most of them are probably the combined of the two. I'm not sure, since I don't have many downfalls in this kind of area. The only weakness I know to come from the combination of vampire and guardian, is that I am not able to tolerate harm coming to any people I care about and I will react with urges to cause bloodshed XD

I like the term Discordant Harmony, Twilight <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

Re: Discordant Harmony
Unfortunately the term is coined on a book I found after I Googled the phrase. The book is a mundane work. The term is agreeable enough to me though.

Re: Discordant Harmony
This applies to us somewhat. To put it simply, I'm war, Yriela's peace, and Deros is somewhere in between (although he didn't even exist until the first incarnation). It's more complicated than that, really, but that's the simple way to put it. So I suppose Deros is the created discordant harmony (and it truely is a wonderful term), between me and my sister. An empathetic warchild.

-Kraela (who apparantly is the spokeswoman for this system's multiplicity, since I'm the only one who talks about it)

Re: Discordant Harmony
I can relate to this one. My core energy is not the same as the one that my spirit guide has been familiarizing me with. I also pick up other energies from my environment. Sometimes they compliment each other and everything goes great. And sometimes they conflict, which is not so great. Occasionally my friend comments on finding another 'me' in there. I had to ask, how many of 'me' are there? I'm not really a multiple though, I just shift according to whatever influences I happen to be under at the time.
