Defintion of "Shadow"
For awhile I've heard about "shadows" and them as kin-type (mostly because of Archer <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile --> ), but I've never actually known what a shadow is. So, what is the definition of a Shadow?

How do you define "dark"? Simply dark in color? Or dark in nature like chaotic or evil?

Dark in colour, lacking sensory information.

What's dark about evil? Why do you think there's any similarity been darkness and chaos?

I don't. I was just trying to give examples of types of darkness. Darkness and chaos are typically portrayed in movies, novels, etc. as "evil". That doesn't make them so, but it's a common concept.

Evil I can understand - best to demonise what you don't know (and in the case of darkness, can't see or observe or understand), just in case.

But chaos? I've never gotten that link at all.

But chaos? I've never gotten that link at all.

Perfect example: The Joker in The Dark Knight movie is nothing but chaotic in nature. Yet everything he does is also evil too. Does chaos = evil? No of course not. But evil can come from chaos. Since chaos is often seen as a lack of organization, things that do evil deeds can run rampant with chaos, thus creating more evil.

And this is, of course, is only in movies, novels, etc. I'm not so sure things are so black and white as that in real life.

Re: Defintion of "Shadow"
I can see a connection between evil and chaos, and I can see a connection between evil and darkness. That doesn't mean I see a connection between chaos and darkness, though.

It's so pervasive that I have had other dark kin tell me that they thought all shadows would be inherently chaotic, on account of being dark. Which seems to me, bizarre.

I guess it comes down to how you define chaos. I agree that a "lack of order" doesn't necessarily mean evil. Of course, I've never really tried to define chaos (thus making it non-chaotic!) anyway.
