Dealing with stress
How do you deal with stress? Any recipes, breathing and meditation techniques, anything to let it out, anything very much appreciated.

Re: Dealing with stress
When I get to deal with my stress -which is never - I find that exercising or just taking a bit of time for myself to do something that I want to do really helps. I have read that Tai Chi is suppose to help uot with stress as well (my Dad does this).

I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and count down from either ten or twenty.

Re: Dealing with stress
I don't normally get stressed. Over anything. I wasn't nervous or stressed about my own wedding! (which many people found very odd.) I'm just an easy-going type of person. *shrug* But when I have been stressed, I just relax with a favorite activity; usually watching a movie or a favorite TV show or curled up with a good book. I've also been known to relax in a hot bath. However my favorite de-stresser is cuddling with my kitty.

Re: Dealing with stress
I have quite a few. (They only work during minor worries, though, if it's something that's really on my mind night and day then I talk and talk to someone until the worry has dissolved, even if it's only talking to myself.)

Otherwise:

- I take a hot bath.
- I write in my LJ.
- I read a good book, curled on the sofa, with a cup of tea. (I generally do this before I sleep at night, or else I won't get a wink of sleep.)
- I eat sweet food like birthday cake and chocolate.

Re: Dealing with stress
Digressing from the topic here, but I ate some Hershey's chocolate not too long ago and reckoned it was sweeter than British chocolate. Apparently, it's the other way around.

But it is nice. Very nice. We don't see Hershey's chocolate very much around here, though.

For me any kind of sweet does not help with stress. I don't even like chocolate (I know that is really weird for a girl). I would rather that cup of tea or a hot cup of coffee. When I am having a really rotten day a glass of wine or a latte from starbucks hits the spot.
