Completely Numb?
Have any of you met someone who is absolutely and definitely numb to our world?

Can't feel energy shifts, no empathy whatsoever, no supernatural experiences, nothing.

I haven't, and the thought of that kind of person, being or being around, makes me so nervous.
It also gives me bad ideas, but those are only fun if they can tell their energy is being played with.

Re: Completely Numb?
Nope. I think the closest someone can get to that is being completely in denial.

Why in denial? There are people who lack a physical sense rather than being in denial that they have it.

Re: Completely Numb?
There's also folks who are just clueless when it comes to energy flowing around them. I don't think I've ever met a numb person, but I've met plenty who either don't care, don't believe in it, or else just don't pay attention to that sort of this. Unless you've purposefully taken notice or something smacked you upside the head, why would you notice it?

Re: Completely Numb?
There are people who are either clueless or just don't believe in it to a point where they'll explain it away any way they can.

What I love is the "Scientific Response."
Everything can be explained by science.

Then try to explain why.

Re: Completely Numb?
Yeah, I mean, I believe that everything can be approached via the scientific method (meaning develop a hypothesis, test it, revise it, etc.) but science can certainly not yet explain everything.

Re: Completely Numb?
I don't see why being around that kind of person would make you nervous! Some people just don't think about those kinds of things, and they're ok with that.

No, no, no.
I mean the ones that genuinely don't feel anything.
"I know you're messing with my energy. I can see you waving your hands. I don't feel it. Knock it off."

Not the ones that are obliviously around an energy vamp and suddenly feel tired afterward but don't know why.

I'd assume most of the apparently "blind" are just not paying attention. Coming to the conclusion that seems most normal, most likely, is often human nature when we pick up on something at all...and concentrating elsewhere can cause people to miss some pretty huge things.

Most of us are raised in a culture that's against "magical thought" so some may not even think, "Hey, that person always drains me; maybe it's not just personal friction, maybe zie's outright taking my energy." Even if they do, there's social pressure not to say it. And some, like the Kheprian Warrior caste, are naturally very well grounded and shielded so it takes a lot to get their notice or get them to Awaken.

But as Ry alluded, I would consider it entirely possible that some people are "blind" in that sense, just as others are missing physical senses and one atheist of our acquaintance has speculated that if there is/are a god/gods, zie/they made him deaf to zir/them. It's a sad thought to us (at least the two of us who've been out to consider this thought) but we would feel more sorry for than disturbed by someone like this. Far better that than being around, say, someone who has no mundane empathy - no concern about others' feelings at all.
