Chasing a...Unicorn?
You know, I have to admit, this has puzzled me for quite some time. When I first began researching otherkin- after reading a webcomic that mentioned them, and talking to Fenshae about it- I ran across a couple of forums where one girl was claiming to be half-dragon, half-unicorn.

I'll be honest: I died laughing. (Mammal and reptilian? wtf?)

After thinking about it a little more rationally, I can understand where that kind of multiplicity comes in- *bows to Momo and Garnets*- even if the multiples here aren't so... *wry smile*...dramatic, dare we say? However, after thinking about that, prowling the site and a couple of others, I have a question. (Mods, I'm sorry if this has already been put up somewhere. I couldn't find a thread about this!) So, here's the question-

Where are the unicorns?

I mean, I've met a gorgon *waves to OracleofWaltz on OKA* dragons, angels, demons, fae, elves, therians, shadows -*bows to Archer*- and a multitude of other things. I myself am a weird little angelic thingy, but... no one's a unicorn?

Are unicorns too pure to incarnate in human form? (Oddly enough, I wouldn't mock that.) Are they utterly extinct? Do they perhaps become something else when they die?

*chuckles* A friend of mine said that unicorns become angels when they die, and that's almost a plausible theory. (Why plausible? Well, why not? ^_~) Has anyone run into a unicorn? Did they seem legitimate, or like fluff balls? Considering the mythology surrounding unicorns, would it seem like tainting them (or exalting yourself) to be a unicorn incarnate?

Fling responses at me! I'm curious!

Re: Chasing a...Unicorn?
There was one who said they were part unicorn at the werelist, but that was a while ago...and I can't remember their name.

There's plenty of other things out there that haven't been seen on these forums though (I personally want to meet a binturong therian). I wouldn't put unicorns in such a special light based on simply not seeing them yet.

On the old OKA, there was a unicorn-kin administrator called Selena. I never got to know her as she was inactive by the time I was around, though.

Re: Chasing a...Unicorn?
I know one Unicorn in Germany, she does not speak english and is not registered in any kinboard. She simply lives her life without outing to the public. However I know her. A very nice, somehow naive, person.

There's at least one unicorn over at OKC (otherkincommunity.net) but they haven't been active for a while.

I have heard of a few here and there. Never talked to any Unicorn-kin in particular.

Re: Chasing a...Unicorn?
I know of a lot of unicorn-kin, they have their own board somewhere.

As I recall it is full of drama of a high level that tends to cross over into other boards.

Re: Chasing a...Unicorn?
I grew up with a unicorn. She said she was part unicorn, part human in a past life, and a guy. First otherkin I met besides myself, though we didn't know that word at the time.

Re: Chasing a...Unicorn?
*cheers* Yay! They do exist! I was wondering. I guess I haven't explored enough boards yet to find one. I was just honestly curious as to why I never saw any. *nods at WhiteFox* True enough, there are a lot of things that I haven't seen anywhere, but something with as much mythology and exposure as a unicorn being missing just seemed odd to me.

Re: Chasing a...Unicorn?
I think that the reason why you don't see many unicorn-kin might be the opposite reasoning for why you see so many wolf-kin (although my memory fails to recall exactly what that reason is)
