Bad movies
I just finished watching Dario Argento's version of The Phantom of the Opera; and let me tell you, it's a real stinker. Telepathic rats serving as a "family" to a Fabio-esque Phantom, played maskless by Julian Sands; Asia Argento, the director's daughter who at the time was sixteen years old, in sex scenes with said Phantom; pedophiliac overtones; lesbian overtones; blood and gore up the wazoo; bodice-ripping love scenes; a really bad script . . . the list goes on and on. Nevertheless, it's so bad, it's good. I love, love, LOVE this film, because it cracks me up in so many different ways.

Another good one, the granddaddy of all bad films, is Plan 9 From Outer Space by none other than Ed Wood. It's basically an experiment in putting zombies and alien invasion together, all on what looks like a ten-dollar budget, and watching the fun unfold.

So, do tell: what are your favorite worst films of all time, and why?

EDIT: Ack, I just realized that this properly belongs in the Media forum. Mods, please move the thread there.

Re: Bad movies
Trucks

It's a Stephen King short story made into a film. One that had a budget acctually. But the story is just SO VERY BAD. The acting is horrid, the direction is all over the place, the dialogue is rubbish. I have never laughed so hard at a movie, ever, before or since.
Short plot synopsis is that there was a toxic waste spill, and it made machines come to life. Cars driving themselves and attacking human beings. Trucks gathering around an old petrol station in the middle of the desert and trying to bully the owners into giving them gas.
My favorite part is when the trucks form a circle, flash their lights and swish the windsheild wipers, and the owner looks out the window and speaks "I think they're communicating". That one line knocked me off my seat in hysterical laughter.

Re: Bad movies
The movie that tops my list of movies that I both hate and remember? Eragon. So many high hopes... smashed down by the edited storyline.

There's probably movies that I've hated worse. However, I have this amazing ability to forget what makes me unhappy.

Re: Bad movies
I think the point wasn't which movies you hate, it's what HORRIBLE movies do you actually LIKE. I think?

In which case, the answer is, of course, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It's so bad it's good. <!-- s:roll: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="" title="Rolling Eyes" /><!-- s:roll: -->

Re: Bad movies
You crazy? Monty Python isn't bad, its a classic!!

I love to hate the original Swamp Thing with Heather Locklear and that green thing. The end's the best with the stupid flower on her foot. Ice Pirates is another. Space herpes, nuff said.

Re: Bad movies
The Stink of Flesh it's a micro budget film about how zombies have over taken the world and the few humans that are left. The make-up is horrible, but it has some of the greatest lines I've ever heard in a zombie movie. It's definitely not for children or the easily offended. I'd go more into the plot, but it's not PG-13.

Re: Bad movies
I love those Resident Evil movies. They're so horrible, but I enjoy watching them. Oh! And all the Final Destinations! They crack me up every time!
