Animated Movies
Inspired by the mention of Ferngully in the Avatar thread. What cartoon movies from your childhood do you remember? What's your favorite animated movie? (And I'm referring to Disney films, Don Bluth, etc., not anime. )

I remember watching Aladdin in theatres when I was younger. In fact, I have a few Disney movies in my collection now including my two favorites; the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast (I always loved the Beast!). I also remember watching the Land Before Time (the original, not any of the many sequels!), An American Tail and a two of my favorite childhood movies; Dot and the Kangaroo and Scruffy.

Re: Animated Movies
The oldschool Disney movies. We loved Fantasia. The Land Before Time - the original, we didn't get into the sequels from what I remember. We liked Rocky and Bullwinkle too, but that was a TV show by the time we were around, not shorts in front of feature movies. (The body-dad got us into it; he would go to movies just because the Dudley Do-Right shorts were advertised as playing before a particular movie.)

It's kind of sad that Pixar didn't get started until we were older.

There's some Anime we wish we would've seen as children, too - it's not all adult stuff, remember. If we had kids we'd watch Spirited Away with them.

Re: Animated Movies
The Fox and the Hound. Lady and the Tramp. The Transformers movie.

Land Before Time I remember seeing in the cinema while on holiday and loving - but hating the very small amounts of the very poor sequels that I saw, heh.

I was dragged to Aladdin against my will, along with various other Disney films around that time, because I thought they were far, far too babyish for me. I didn't much enjoy them, but who knows if that's because they sucked or because I went with expectations?

The animated Robin Hood story with Robin as a fox was AWESOME, I loved it, and I'm sure it would hold up well if I saw it today.

But none of those are a patch on the amazing Secret of NIMH.

I remember:

-The Black Cauldron
-The Sword in the Stone
-Fantasia
-Aladdin
-Snow White
-Cinderella
-The Little Mermaid
-Beauty and the Beast
-Ferngully
-The Rescuers

Do movies like Bedknobs and Broomsticks count? There's some animation in those.

My favorite movies would have to be Fantasia and The Sword in the Stone.

*facepalm* How could I forget another childhood favorite of mine? The Secret of NIMH rocked! It really got my childhood mouse obsession started!

Archer, Min, have either of you ever read the book?

Re: Animated Movies
I had a Secret of NIMH book, not sure if it was the original with some illustrations from the film, or just a novelisation. Either way it got banned by my parents because apparently it disturbed me

I would have guessed Watership Down.

Re: Animated Movies
Elinox got it

It was "animated".. as in cartoons... not puppets.
_

Watched it..

Realised I remembered it all wrong...

Kinda sad now...
I liked "my" version better.
