A new member's introduction.
Hello. I'm Canopus, a new member. I have nothing interesting to say, as I dislike introductions and never know what to say. I don't like talking about myself.

I'm uncertain of exactly what it is that makes me identify as Otherkin; that is, I'm unsure of why I'm Otherkin or what I am. I've identified as non-human on a non-physical level for quite a while, I first started thinking of myself as such around a year before I came across the term 'Otherkin'. I think that I'm something birdlike, but I do not feel comfortable with nor capable of giving you explanations concerning the 'how' or the 'why' at this point in time. I don't believe in souls whatsoever, so I suppose that rules out a lot of what I could attribute this to. I suppose that I view Otherkin as an entirely psychological phenomenon. Of course, that's one of the reasons for my joining this forum - I cannot see demonic or angelic kintypes being purely psychological, but they still do exist, and so I want to observe people with these kintypes and what people think of their own kintypes, to try to see if I can convince myself to believe in something of a more spiritually-inclined origin.

Despite what I may have led you to believe, I am somewhat spiritual by some definitions. I certainly don't subscribe to a specific religion, and I do not view deities as anything more than the Earth, the wind, the rain, the sun and the sky. I worship these natural things as though they are deities. I am a pseudo-animist, I think, as I believe that nothing has a soul, but everything (excluding non-living objects and prokaryotes) has a consciousness. I identify with a few mythological and/or cryptozoological birdanimals on archetypal levels. I have an ungulate totem, but am a ninny when it comes to ungulates, and have no idea what animal it is. I couldn't tell a moose from a duiker.

I'm an argumentative, analytical person. I enjoy various different types of music, but have a distinct preference for grunge and rock. I write quite a bit in my spare time, and enjoy idle amateur meteorology and climatology. I look forward to getting to know several of you.

Hi there, both of you. Thanks for welcoming me.

Hehe, Laiko, that made me grin. I'm sure that fire and water can work together somehow, right?

Welcome Interestingly, I notice more people ascribing to the psychological theory of otherkin in the therian community than the rest of the otherkin community...and I guess identifying with something birdlike puts you closer to the therian camp. Of course it's entirely possible that you aren't a therian or even something birdlike, just an interesting thought.

Friendly welcome. I wasn't sure if I should expect a friendly welcome or not, heh. This is the first Otherkin forum I've joined. Thanks!
